Nope. I reckon he came with the mindset to get Paul past the first four rounds. Some agreement was made imo

 

Clearly staged. Joshua had a clear as day opportunity for the right hand that smoked Ngannou and you could clearly see him pull it. AJ has no acting chops - the 'trying to hard for the KO' shtick the commentary were trying to serve up was hilarious!

He literally only started landing punches after Jake Paul got tired

 

It was a beat down as soon as the running man ran out of gas and jello legs, but he did actually try to knock AJ out a few times and took some heavy artillery. I’m not sure if there was any agreement whatsoever, it would have been a much more entertaining script than cycling around the edges and collapsing every thirty seconds.

Yes, it's not like he's holding titles hostage or even climbing the rankings. He got 80 something mil for an easy, yet somewhat frustrating and embarassing, night. Good for him.

Fury held the WBC, had a claim to lineal and had blatatly ducked the fight everyone wanted when he signed for Ngannou. Not remotely the same thing.

 

Yes, Fury dropped out of the heavyweight rankings in my book with that fight, WBC belt or not.
Being 'competitive' against Usyk wasn't enough to redeem him either. His time has passed, as has Joshua's. Now they're going to sell us the fight between them both, and pretend it's a major top-level heavyweight fight still. I wouldn't even have them in the top 20 heavyweights right now.

 

Yeah, it's a shame it didn't happen in 2021. I will probably still watch it if it comes up, though.

 

I think they'd still put on a good fight.
The only problem I'd have with it, is if Turki and one of the sanctioning bodies manipulates it into a final eliminator or (interin world title or world title fight) ..... which isn't fair on the real contenders or good for the division in the long run.
