Yes , every usyk thread is fun to read here . Yesterday most users said that wilder is a "dosser" , the biggest bum in boxing history today , after usyk is willing to fight the completely shot version of wilder , the same users say he is a very dangerous opponent Then people say usyk deserves a soft touch with his legacy . What legacy ? 5 opponents at heavy , sitting on the belts and avoiding three legit opponents in a row ? Justis huni could retire in 2021 , that was the time he had 5 opponents at heavy . And of course he would retire undefeated .
Absolutely. Unless Wilder got back into the box and impressed, this fight should be heavily criticised. Wilder looks done.
Please list Mr Juni's first 5 opponents If you can't I shall Faiga Opelu Arsene Fosso Jack Maris Christian Tsoya Paul Gallen You clown
He's unbeaten and young, as well as a title holder. Therefore, would do more for Usyks legacy than the previous generations equivelant of Wardley.
Oleksandr Usyk fighting Deontay Wilder is no bad mark on Usyk's legacy to me. Many Champions have defended against fighters who had well known names but were beyond their best days. Oleksandr still has to be careful because Deontay can hit, washed up or not.
Mr. Fury, Usyk is the first undisputed cruiserweight champion in the four belt era, the first undisputed heavyweight champion the four belt era, undefeated to date, he did it all by fighting in the other guy's backyards, did it when his country was in a war that he served in for a time, and, of course, he beat your son twice. That legacy.
I genuinely think Usyk wants to fight Wilder because he knows how dangerous that right hand is if he somehow windmills it in at the right time. He has defeated all the necessary opponents of his era and sees the bronze bomber as the last guy. I don’t think he sees any threat or challenge in anyone else right now. There’s decent tests but nothing more so the notoriety of Wilder and respect for his reign however disappointing and the epic trilogy with Fury, and financially he’s still got some clout, I can see his reasons. He made a point of liking that he is a fellow medalist. Deontay always has the ultimate puncher’s chance. Then again we said that against old man Zhang and Parker and he produced zero fireworks but knock outs are still what he was good at.
Usyk has become my fav fighter but I have to agree here. If someone is holding belts, they have responsibilities to fight the best. If they dont want to do this, drop the belts and then fight whoever you want and Id have no criticisms. But I was critical on Canelo when he was champion not fighting the best, and arguing with Canelo fans that tried to say hes earned the right to face who he wants, my reply to them was not while being champion. And I have to apply that standard to Usyk. The silver lining here though is that at least with Usyk, his opponent selection is currently kinda thin, and after this gimme fight it will almost certainly be back to quality contenders.
I think he has been advised to go after fights that can sell. We all know Usyk is better than anyone else, he has already beaten the top guys twice so what else is there for him to do? I find it quite intriguing to face the hardest puncher of this era. Wilders Hail Mary has a very low probability of catching an ageing Usyk but stranger things have happened. I will watch it.
To be fair, he did drop a belt. I actually hope he reduces down to the IBF. Kabayel deserves a change at the WBC, and if he gives up the WBA, Gassiev will be elevated to champ, which will only benefit Usyk. Then he can extend his career with a few more of these big money voluntaries.
