I talked about Spinks' durability some in the Johansson thread, but I guess I'll give a synopsis here, too. The idea that Michael was durable at heavyweight is not only very wrong, but easily seen as such. Spinks got rocked all around the ring by Holmes' right hands, and though Larry was indeed a hard hitter when he planted his feet, it shows us enough to know that the Jinx is not going to be taking these hits easily. And even beyond that, I think Baer was pretty damn accurate when he needed to be, and sure was a hell of a lot craftier than Johansson. I'll take Baer.
Baer could win if he lands clean. But if Braddock could outbox him, so could Spinks. He'd be better off trying to overpower Spinks.
This. Baer had the power to put away a lot of guys, but his technique is nowhere near the level of his power. Spinks on the other hand is arguably a fragile heavyweight, but allow me to suggest that Baer does not pose the same sort of threat that Tyson or Holmes did.
