Is AJ afraid of Dubois?

Dubois absolutely battered AJ and then was happy to do an instant rematch. AJ went quiet on the rematch and disappeared for over a year. He’s not making any sounds about trying to avenge that loss.

Is it safe to assume that he doesn’t want anything to do with Dubois at this point? It is very hard to take him seriously at the moment without that rematch.

It would do more for the likes of Fury to beat Dubois than waste time on AJ

    Yes.

No chance AJ goes near Dubois again, especially now that he has momentum with the Jake Paul win. AJ will KO another soft touch next, then go into the Tyson Fury fight to collect a Saudi paycheck

I mean he got smashed. What boxer fights a guy that destroyed him again? Not many.

AJ-Fury is destined to happen. One last mega payday that they are both amenable to.. just milking it along..

If you’re Fury though, unless money is your primary objective, AJ doesn’t do much for him at this point.

It's not that he's afraid of him, but that at that moment, such a fight made absolutely no sense.
Boxers need to manage their careers intelligently, because it's easy to ruin them at will. For example, by stubbornly pushing for rematches after a devastating defeat.
Boxing is a difficult sport, and any close fight or one in which you get hit can cost you a lot of health. It was better to let Daniel go at that moment and let Antek recover.
Look at how Adam Kownacki, who was already ranked around the top 15, ruined his already good career with a two-fight with Hellenius. Look at how the two-fight with Zhang broke Joe Joyce, who was even considered a top 3 or even 2 by some...
It could be that Dubois is just not right for AJ, and why force him into a cast? You can always return to such a fight if, for example, Dubois loses some of his health. He recently got knocked out by Usyk and avoided the Parker fight in a bizarre way. Is Dubois terrified of Parker?

    Such topics are pointless.

Mm, yeah, of course. The beating was so severe it took him 15 months to "rebuild" for a fight against a "youtuber".

Dubois was even taunting AJ afterwards challenging him for a rematch, and AJ was cowering away somewhere as silently as he possibly could.

That was a vicious, prolonged, pummeling that has permanently damaged AJ both mentally and physically for life.

He will NEVER rematch Dubois. NEVER.

You could say the same for Joshua...

The only reason for either of them to fight is because it's a massive cash-out and they're leaving it on the table otherwise.

You could maybe say that it'd help once and for all decide who's better, given there wasn't much in it (Fury generally gets the theoretical H2H nod, AJ has the better/deeper resume), but it's too late for that - they're both declined enough that it doesn't tell you much...

I'm not sure either of them really wants to go near the belts again - there's too much risk of punishment that I don't think either wants.

And, to bring it back on topic, that's probably why AJ isn't interested in the Dubois rematch - regardless of outcome he could probably do better, but unless he's after another belt run is there any point?

The only fight that makes sense for AJ is Fury.

This is a fight that needs to happen for 2026.

Only way AJ fights Dubious again is if Dubious has lost all confidence by taking another loss to someone lower tier.

Warren won't stick by Daniel the way Eddie has with Joshua and give him soft touches and confidence builders

Quite sad with how many in this forum take every chance to belittle fighters that have seen battles they couldn't dream of doing.

He suffered a devastating loss at 35. He seemed to decide at that stage that he was done with world class guys and would primarily look for a last pay day against Fury. I see no problem with that whatsoever.

He knows he's past his best and that another beating like that could cripple him for life, why go looking for it? He's had a very good career and is more than set money wise and is unlikely to get back to the top. Why risk the quality of the remainder of his life?

AJ is not an up and coming fighter and holds no belts. He can face whomever he chooses. If you don't like it, just don't watch it. There is that possibility you know.

Joshua will probably be pushed into the Wardley fight and will also be brutally knocked out...
