At this point it is what brook vs khan was at the end.

Only brits will pay for it.

It really was a glorious time for british heavyweight for a while. Fury and Joshua are now an afterthought.

I would have eaten up this fight a few years earlier. Now i will be pissed when it inevitably will be on ppv

Not really but we are going to get it and the Brits will make it out to be some huge deal even though it’s literally like 10 years too late. I will never understand Fury’s reluctance to fight Price and AJ when he had the opportunity before both had gone to ****.

It's too late to prove that.

They're both too far from their best at this point - it won't tell us how a primes fight would've gone.

Whoever wins, there will be "excuses" - but because of the time that's passed, we won't know whether those excuses stack up or not.



All that said....

They should still be relatively evenly matched, and that should still make it a good fight.

So - yes, please.

 

If AJ fought Dubois and beat him clearly - regardless of whether it was an aggressive performance with a huge KO or a Ruiz-2 style schooling...

Fury would run for the hills.


Fury hasn't won in over 2 years.

He hasn't won uncontroversially against a non-debutant in over 3 years.


It's not as if either of them is standing at the peak and looking down at the other - neither is particularly deserving of anything bigger, and nothing more interesting is out there for either of them.

 

To be clear -- this wasn't Fury-Ngannou. This was Jake Paul running for his life in rounds 1-4, AJ not really trying and using it like a footwork drill, Jake Paul gassing in round 5, then AJ finally deciding he was bored of footwork drills and would like to end this spar. And even then, I don't think AJ threw full power. Looked like he was trying to knock Jake Paul out without killing him.

It was an ugly fight because it was a mismatch, because Jake Paul's only game plan was to survive, and because AJ didn't start trying until round 5. AJ could have ended it in round 1 or 2 if he'd tried to -- the second he started landing, Jake looked like he was being hit by a sledgehammer.

Don't get me wrong, it was the worst fight I've ever seen, but don't put it in the category of Fury-Ngannou, which was hilariously competitive.

In 2018, it was arguably the biggest fight in the sport; 8 years later, it's got no interest outside of the UK. They've both waited far too long, too many miles on the clock, and they've both been trounced by the true king of the division. It is a big domestic fight between 2 fighters on their way out. It'd be another disappointment and another reason for casuals to dismiss the sport. A boring Fury UD.

 

Then why is Fury not accepting the fight? Nothing to lose, all to gain, right?

 

i want to see it. i want to see aj stretch the ogre out so his fans can finally face the reality of who he is. that guy that needs all the stars to perfectly align in order to perform to his potential, he dont exist.

One or both are the story of Fury's career...

He could be very good at times - but he's not as good as hyped purely because he can't fight with the strengths of both styles at the same time, and both styles have their weaknesses (which don't disappear in the magical chimera Fury).

 

That fight only really makes sense for AJ. He can’t go back in with Usyk or Dubois and he knows that. I don’t think he wants to go in with a big hitter either. He probably feels that a shot Fury is his best hope of a big win.

For Fury, there is very little upside to fighting AJ. Even if he wins, people will just say that AJ got battered by Dubois and went 6 rounds with a YouTuber

 

Joshua and Fury and Wilder are washed, Usyk is old also, no need please.
