Callum Simpson vs. Troy Williamson & Ellis Ward vs. Jake Jon Cleary RBR.

He brings it on himself doesn't he, putting his fighters in close match ups that are likely to end up in scraps - senseless

I really think he should do himself a favour and be more like other promoters and match up against 100/1 fighters.

 

Fair play indeed, doesn't seem like he's had the greatest of times recently but clearly a talented fighter and a decent performance tonight.

I've said before, as a Barnsley fan I love what Simpson has done /is doing for the towns sports fans and he has given us some great nights.But as much as I have enjoyed them I always thought he has looked a bit limited, in particular smothering his own work.

A night like tonight was always likely to happen if he didn't improve. Will be interesting to see what his next move is, regardless his local fanbase will be with him

 

Yeah, I imagine match him quite easy next time then try and step him back up.

Wasn't impressed with the ref or corner, so hopefully the extra shots at the end wont have taken anything out of him.

 

The main problem I see with Simpson is he smothers a lot of his own work and doesn’t bring his feet in with him. For a tall lad with reach too he isn’t the best at range. Footwork issues perhaps.

Who trains him?

 

Dickys gym, somewhere close to Leeds.cant remember the name of the trainer but sure he used to be part of Josh Warringtons team (remember seeing him in his corner and the docu-film on Warrington a few years back).

Exactly my thought on the range issue, which really eliminates his key advantage as he is tall the weight. I do wonder if some of it is his mindset or a lack of discipline as he can't seem to keep patient and pick his shots at range, he lands one then often jumps straight in

A steep learning curve ahead.

 

Easiest thing to do after a defeat is say change trainer but there’s plenty of gyms in South Yorkshire should be wish to try and improve.

 

Credit to him for giving his main event fighters a test against live opponents.

Troy Williamson is a credit to boxing, a warrior and a very good test for anyone who beats him.

I agree. The lead commentator needs to be replaced and while they're at it, they should also find another host.

Chris Lloyd was on the international feed together with Dave Allen. I haven't heard it, but it can only be better than the hopeless Ronald McInTosh.
