:good James Toney was indeed a great athlete at the beginning of his career, at MW. And he was a good football player before he started boxing.
Some weird definitions of athletic... Most of us seem to take it to mean 'who could play basketball or football?' That isn't athleticism imo. Michael Jordan couldn't wrestle Alexander Karelin, does that mean he's not a good athlete? All boxers are athletic in the athletic persuite of boxing. That said, RJ is a good call.
I'll vote for Johnny Douglas at number 1. Olympic gold and successful pro boxer. Also played football and cricket for England. That is one athletically gifted mofo.
I wouldnt laugh too hard. His athletic gifts in terms of stamina are immense. Had he not had brittle hands you would have saw more of his power too. He wouldnt make my list though.
And Toney also holds the record for the most Burger King's consumed by a boxer, although Solis did come very close to beating it while training for his fight against Vitali.
I think young tyson should be a little bit higher. In his prime he was very athletic and well conditioned.
