From Usyks own mouth he said he will continue boxing for more 3 years but he will not fight Itauma He didnt even say maybe in the future or maybe if Itauma gets a big win he straight up ruled it out thats a clear duck
He's avoiding Ebeneezer Tettah, Jim Tomey and Damazion Vanhouter too - because, like Itauma, they haven't done enough at heavyweight to warrant a shot at the unified world title. If Usyk beat Itauma, it would be meaningless - people would say Moses was just a hype job. Itauma needs to beat a live opponent, then a fight with Usyk would be meaningful.
Usyk can duck anyone he likes. He should have retired after the 2nd Fury bout but was keen to spank Dubious in a rematch because he felt he didn't perform as he should first time out... I don't really see what Usyk has left to do...I think he'll fight Fury end of 2026 after Fury KO's AJ. Will be the 2nd fight on repeat edging out Fury with his stamina and output. Both retire together.
Itauma is 20 years old. Not in his 20s. 20 years old. If Usyk beat Itauma easy the win would probably be rendered meaningless by his age. You've got Kabayel, Hrgovic, Ajagba, Okolie, Sanchez and Bakole all in their 30s. Itauma shouldn't be at the front of the line because he beat Dillian Whyte.
Itauma should fight gatekeepers and journeyman for the next couple of years. There is no need to rush him into a title shot, he's only 20.
Usyk has a lot left to prove if he / his fans want to see him better ranked in all-time rankings. He only has 24 fights as a professional. If he fights (and beats) more ranked opponents that will help him. We don't need him to fight Fury, AJ or Dubois again, but he should be fighting Wardley, Kabayel and Itauma.
