What you see is in the media is 100% what you get with Moses. Very genuine lad. At 21 years of age and coming to prominence at a time when the previous era is wrapping up, there’s zero point rushing him just for the critics. Good learning fights now against guys who will on paper give him rounds and prepare him for a decent reign. From what I’ve seen, Franklin, Gassiev and Okolie all offer him something different but none of them come close to beating him.

I actually agree, they shouldn't rush him, just wish they would have him fight more often, especially with these short fights.

 

Next batch of HW prospects is looking pretty grim. In terms of eye test he's the best by far, has money behind him etc. Ofc limeys are going to overhype him. That's what they do with every hyped prospect.

Gassievs heavyweight resume is no better than Okolies. For whatever reason he hasn't done anything since moving up. His cruiserweight resume a decade ago may not be relevant today.

Based on his cruiserweight resume one would expect him to do well at heavyweight but he hasn't and even managed to lose to Wallin who then lost to Chisora

 

Everyone overhypes him - it's not just Brits.

But that's what happens when you get a narrative going behind a big hitting kid - everyone wants to see a destructive talent that's going to bulldoze through the division, it's great fun to watch... So people become invested in it, become fans, all before anything is proven - and even beyond the point where the evidence shows it was manufactured, often.


Everyone overhyped Jalolov, too - they wanted to be onto a certain thing and enough people were hyping him as a cast iron guaranteed future champion... Before he'd fought anything approaching international level journeymen.


Hype is always ridiculous, and it'll always happen.
People just aren't willing to wait for the proof and enjoy the journey - they're desperate to be mystic ****ing meg.

And personally, I dont even mind it too much. I am happy that fans are supporting boxers and showing genuine enthusiasm in their careers.

 

I think my issue is that plenty seem to jump from one overhyped prospect to the next the moment the bubble bursts...

I don't mind genuine fans following boxers they have an interest in and sticking by them when they lose.

That's the bit that tells you who's a genuinely interested fan and who's just trying to jump on the hype and claim they can see talent before it's possible to know who's going to truly make it (eg: Itauma right now)...
