Yeah same. I was a big fan of The Cannon, ever since his run in the Boxcino tourney over a decade ago - but even with a handful of decent victories since then (Khytrov, Mosley Jr.) it didn't feel like he really had any business upsetting Bohachuk, somebody I considered a real contender. When the rematch was announced I just assumed they'd knot it up 1-1 because that first time had to be a fluke, right? And this was after Bohachuk had just put up a very good showing against Vergil Ortíz - somebody I think is top-tier elite.

    Super confusing.

Bohachuk clearly beat Ortiz but I think that fight took a lot out of him, and his style in general accumulates a lot of wear and tear and isn't conducive towards longevity.

He was mostly winning against Adams in their first bout but if I remember correctly the ring conditions were really poor and disadvantageous to his particular style - he couldn't really find his footing and sit on his punches appropriately and really separate himself from Adams despite pretty clearly being a level or two above him when both are operating at their top gear. It felt like by the time his second fight with Adams rolled around he was already showing noticeable signs of decline.

I'm not optimistic about his chances against Butaev as a result - feels like it's going to be a repeat of Gvozdyk - Beterbiev.

Bohachuk wins 7-5 in a war.
