Does Roberto Duran from his best performances beat everyone from 135 to 147?

I think Arguello would struggle with the foot speed and body punching of Duran.

Others said it. Hearns beats any Duran. I don't think it's guaranteed Duran always beats the best Leonard. Realistically if they are in top form for multiple fights Leonard wins some. Prime Crawford and Floyd are big problems imo, peoples hate for Mayweather skew their opinions on his ability. Don't think Duran is as big of a favorite over Pacquiao as most think either.

Duran is a bad matchup for Duran. Having said that i think he'd give a great account of himself but the result would be a brutal loss. Alexis, as amazing as he was, is a bit methodical and stiff to roll Roberto. Duran would be moving, turning him and showing him angles. Arguello is like louis, he loves to be set when he punches and it's his downfall here.

I remember seeing a clip of floyd basically admitting he's not on duran's level (yet)

I don't think neither floyd or crawford beat him, floyd's whole skillset is taken from duran so he probably knows how to beat him, he doesn't have anything extraordinary that gonna make duran overthink and make weird mistakes (like standing too tall and trying to slug it on the inside with hearns and parrying his punches from mid range lol)

The second fight was closer than the first, this whole narrative that leonard was a different fighter in the second fight is wrong, if he fought like that in the first it would've gone either exactly like it did or like hearns vs leonard 1 but more loopsided and no speech from dundee is winning him the fight

From my perspective it's about the skillset and how he deals with each fighter's

I think he looked full rounded, didn't make much mistakes, adjusted at the spot and controlled the fights (and his opponents) regardless of who he was in with

That's exactly how i see it, i rank marcel and kobayashi very high and he beat both relatively easy, i liked him a lot at SFW his footwork Looked immaculate in that division

    Sanchez too small

Arguello i think gets KO'd, not only duran beat the only 2 fighters that beat him in his prime but he's also stylistically hard for him, arguello liked to fight straight forward opponents at mid-long range, duran's feints, angles and inside work is too much for arguello who need at least 5 rounds to read his opponents

Duran fights and reads at the same time, he doesn't just feint, he feints then throws or baits and counter and keeps his distance somewhat close unlike arguello who can't do both at the same time

He also can't move for some reason lol

Exactly, he wants a straight line stiff long range fight that starts slow, duran's gonna take him out if there before he knows what happened

At 135, his best self probably loses to Leonard … Benny Leonard. And I think prime Pernell Whitaker has a really god chance — styles make fights and Sweet Pea is all wrong for him.

If we throw in 140, to me Aaron Pryor is interesting. Chavez too, as I think this is his most complete self, and Roberto wasn’t the beast above lightweight that he was at 135 … but I’d still give Roberto the edge.

At 147, I think Ray Robinson is too much for Montreal Duran and Leonard of New Orleans outpoints him probably. Wilfred Benitez sure had his number and probably does here, too. And while I’m not coming up with any names off the top of my head, there’s probably a slick-moving southpaw welter out there somewhere who could give him similar problems to what I see Whitaker doing to him at 135 … confounding, confusing, frustrating and walking away with a decision.

At 135 lbs I would make him the favorite against anyone, but Whitaker and B. Leonard would be worrisome.

At 147 lbs SRR and Hearns should be favored, and SRL from the 2nd fight no less than a pick em.

I don’t agree with Whitaker really, especially at lightweight, his style of defense wasn’t really the fleet footed perpetual motion kind that could frustrate Duran.
He didn’t have huge power either , decent power yes, and Duran was fine with southpaws, I just think Duran would outwork him in any scenario.

Benny Leonard I think troubles him most at lightweight, great defence and versatility and speed, I can’t see anyone knocking out Duran at lightweight, outboxing him while landing hard punches and frustrating him was the only way, Benny has the best chance.

Benitez looked like a million dollars against Duran, and Duran wasn’t old. He had slipped a bit though after the no mas fight, and way outside of his best weight against Benitez who had really found his groove at 154.
I think Duran would beat Benitez at 147 or below, he just didn’t have the speed at 154, he never had really elite speed again after Montreal. He didn’t really need it against Davey Moore, and I don’t think the Duran of the Moore fight would beat Benitez.

    Good points.
I would favor Duran at '35 and '40 over anyone. I would be concerned with Armstrong and Ike Williams the most. At 147 Duran could beat many of the very good Welterweights in his best form.

He couldn't beat all the great Welterweights though. Robinson being the most obvious. The fighters that had height, speed and could stay out of range could make it difficult. Duran still had good speed at 147 and good power he would have to work harder. Luis Rodgriguez would be a tough style.

Wouldn't surprise me if Benny Leonard beat him, he had the tools.
