Wilder shut out Stiverne, Haye nicked a close/controversial decision against Valuev, who often relied on gifts himself. Why is an inactive, 251 lbs, coming off a KO loss Liakhovich notable but Arreola x2 in dominant fashion not?

Chisora said multiple times that he would never fight Ortiz because he's "a hard night's work". Ortiz was a top 5/6 ranked contender for 5+ years, a better fighter than anyone Haye beat, perhaps better than Haye himself (Haye's trainer Booth arguably implied it) and he's two wins on Wilder's record, not one.

If Wilder's best wins were a final fight Valuev MD and Chisora, with no Fury draw and a loss to a 40+ small cruiser early-mid career, he'd be slated considerably more than he is now.

The only reason Haye gets a pass here is he's not just a Wlad victim but arguably Wlad's best win and for whatever reason, people want to elevate Wlad and diminish Fury, even though in doing so they're going to run into obvious contradictions.

Haye pulled out twice, the first time a week removed from the fight.

"Again, of you are talking legacy in the sport...Haye by a country mile."

His legacy is better than Gassiev's but I can't agree here either. What is your reasoning for Haye's legacy being better?

Funilly enough, a fair minority had Breazeale to beat Wilder. I recall it being about 30% in a poll I saw close to the fight.

Bailey for instance said Breazeale would be Wilder's best win, though maybe he was just saying that because he's an AJ fan.

    Than Wilder?

Haye beat at least one very legit champ in Mormeck, other current beltholders in Maccarinelli and Valuev, a future champ in Fragomeni, and Ruiz, who, like it or not, has a respectable legacy.

Wilder had nothing like that at all. One champ in Stiverne, and not a very credible one. A lot of "contenders" without significant wins. Every Haye's wins over Barret and Chisora would enhance Wilder's sorry record.

LMAO you have Harrison in your top 10. That fight is my happy place for 2 reasons
1, Harrison is and always was awful
2, The way Wilder missed 10,000 punches at the end while Harrison was stationary

LoL But thanks for reminding me, I went straight on to youtube to rewatch it

Yes Joshua was fighting at a higher level earlier in his career than most, but I don’t understand the point either.
This is not motorsport where the fastest wins, otherwise Mike Tyson is the best hw champ ever as he got there in the quickest time (by age). But then someone like Leon spinks got there in fewer fights and beat Ali, so who is better?. nobody would rank Leon over Mike or Ali.

Fighters can be brought on using different strategies. AJ was very very quick due to his talent AND the financial backing.
The other main guys of the era, fury and wilder, both turned pro around the same time and both became champs at the same time. One was fighting every few weeks and racked up lots of fights, the other did it in less fights.
Fury was boxing from childhood, wilder started boxing at 21?, AJ started around 18?

So wilder started his boxing career the latest, yet you say he’s not moved fast enough?

    Chisora would've beaten Wilder, though...

Yeah, cause I meant Whyte. And the point still stands - Whyte was better and beat better fighters than Breazeale.

Tryna give Wilder DEI points for beating another DEI contender who never beat any world-level opponent.

And Helenius beating Kownacki clearly had more to do w Kownacki checking out...dude 0-4-1 on that Helenius stretch - he's done.

In my opinion neither are world champion level but they are contenders, which they were for both AJ and wilder (grudge match for wilder)

To add more context, wilder wouldn’t have been fighting brezeale if AJ didn’t lose to Ruiz. (This is incorrect, thankfully makavelli corrected me below)

He would have. Breazeale was a mandatory and he needed to get him out of the way first. He was even included in the 3-fight DAZN deal that Wilder declined. Also, Wilder fought him before AJ lost to Ruiz.
