It is easy to pick poor examples from any fighters career though, isn't it? Those fights were pretty dreadful but is anyone really saying Lewis didn't have power? Didn't have heart? I was not a Lewis fan when I was younger but appreciate him much more now; ain't that always the way. I think 'prime' Tyson and Holyfield would have been too much for him, but hey, he fought and beat both. I think Bowe would have beaten him, but that is all opinion and conjecture. Should we judge fighters on their worst moments, or on their best, or on their career as a whole? Usyk is a sublime boxer but has looked vulnerable, confused, beatable at times. I'd never suggest he was any of those things as a fighter as his career suggests just the opposite. Cherry picking negative points is an easy thing to do, jeez, I have read people citing the Spinks, Berbick and Holmes fights to gauge Ali and we all know how ridiculous that is, don't we?

Realistically, does it matter where we have Usyk placed in history. He is head and shoulders the best of his generation in a way few fighters achieve. Lets enjoy him while he's here and we can rake over the bones when he hangs them up!!

2 or 3 more? As fans of the sport we are truly blessed then.

Fans often tear apart resumes, then wonder why fights can’t be made

His resume is lacking due to fighting so infrequently. He's only beaten 3 quality opponents at heavyweight so it seems odd to claim he's cleared out the division and has nothing to prove

It would be like Holyfield beating Dokes, Douglas and Foreman and claiming he's proven himself the best and doesn't need to do anything else. Nobody would consider Holyfield a great heavyweight if that's all he did at heavyweight but that's where we're at with Usyk

    They were all mandatory opponents.

So, according to you, who else should he beat to prove himself?

More guys ranked in the top 10. A lot more

Sort of like Holyfield who didn't call it a day after beating Dokes, Douglas and Foreman but went on to beat Bowe, Moorer, Tyson etc

At no point in the past ten years did any HW have a better resume than Usyk has now.

    Thanks

I'd definitely give Mike a better chance of beating Usyk than I would Lummox, especially prime Mike vs HW Usyk who, as said not prime Usyk. I still have Usyk winning though

Mike, Like Lummox, was obviously very dirty and a bully too but I can respect dirty fighters and bullies like Mike more than I can ones like Lummox because they own it and don't pretend to be something they're not and Mike was generally a smaller guy fighting bigger guys, whereas Lummox was a giant generally facing smaller and much smaller guys and bullying and being extremely dirty to poor journeymen half his size who were hopelessly overmatched and stood zero chance of winning. The worst kind of bully.

Mike is also a pretty intelligent and very charismatic guy, whereas Lummox is an absolute doofus and has zero personality and charisma. Just listen to him him speak for goodness sake

Let's not forget Lummox wasn't only KO'd in the ams and one punch sparked out/iced in the midst of his prime by smaller or much smaller fighters Usyk would've schooled, clearly lost to Mercer who lost to a 18-9 journeyman a couple of years before and drew vs a 8-9-2 journeyman 2 fights before he was robbed against Lummox, was getting his ass handed to him by Vitali and then shamelessly ducked the rematch after giving Vitali his word he would give him one, and 100% should have a DQ loss to Mike Acey, but he couldn't put a dent in a way smaller ill Mavrovic who was making a huge leap up in class and had no good sparring partners. Lummox was literally blowing out of his ass in the finial rounds and he had to get up on his toes and try to outbox the way smaller man in the final round just to make it to the final bell. He was so spent he breathed a HUGE sigh of relief when they announced the decision because he knew how close he was to losing, as in had there been another round he would have.

Now imagine what Usyk would do to him who would make him miss and gas more than ever before and who is an energizer bunny come the championship rounds?

Yes all 3 double victories were mandatories as you pointed out. Hearn, Fury and the IBF, causing the logjam!
Most boxing fans shouldn’t have to be reminded of such recent heavyweight history, but here goes.
Although Usyk was Joshua’s mandatory, meaning no strings shot, a straight shot. Hearn wangled in a rematch clause, causing a stalling in the division of a year before Usyk repeated the dose in an unnecessary rematch. Fury’s shenanigans delayed their contractual 2 fight deal, again stalling the division. Usyk then knocked Dubois out in another mando in Poland, later knocking him out at Wembley in yet another mandatory, IBF, were the culprits that time, having forced Usyk to relinquish, only for him to regain it in another unnecessary fight.

Why can't we use cruiserweight Usyk for a Tyson fight? Tyson is a small heavyweight so size wouldn't really be an issue

You can if you want but Mike has to be able to make CW and submit to VADA testing

And if we're going by size then all of Usyk's wins at CW were against HWs and giant SHWs and given how Usyk's lightest opponent at HW would be the 2nd heaviest HW opponent Ali ever fought Usyk is one of the true HW God giant slayers and some of the HWs of previous eras were SMW, LHW or small LHW and CW slayers

I used to be threatened by Usyk like you. But him beating Joshua and Fury made me change my mind. We also know Fury fights to his level.
