Most Undeserving PPV Event Of All Time?

    Inspired by the Subriel Matias vs Dalton Smith PPV this weekend, it's got me thinking, which event is the most undeserving PPV of all time? For the record, I'm talking about pro fights only, none of those YouTuber or crossover BS events. I'm also talking about the whole card. The Smith vs Matias undercard has nothing that stands out to me, especially for such a crazy price, so if the main event doesn't deliver a FOTY candidate, then it could go right in as one of the most undeserving PPV events ever.

    My front-runner, from recent memory, would be Shakur vs DLS, but the undercard was much better than the main, with Navarrete vs Conceicao's draw being the highlight that probably saved it from being the worst PPV of all time.

    Klitschko vs Haye and Klitschko vs Fury were another couple, only because I remember I was young at the time, got a few friends round who weren't really into boxing, bigged up the events, and I'm pretty sure none of them have watched a big PPV since. But they were still for the undisputed HW championship. What do you guys think?

    Considering mainstream recent PPV's, I would say Bellew-Haye (I or II). However there are loads of random lower level fights that somehow end up on PPV, so in absolute terms probably one of them.

    I thought the Itauma-Whyte PPV this year was poor, but I bought it anyway. I did like the Hrgovic-Adeleye fight.

    Haye v Bellew and Klitschko were well marketed though even if the fights were disappointing

    Some great inputs here, really highlights just how the PPV model has decimated the sport over the last few decades.

    I once ordered what I thought would be an interesting heavyweight PPV featuring a bunch of up-and-comers. It was billed as a night of new heavyweights. So, I took a chance.

    The main event was Obed Sullivan vs. James Gaines. The co-main was Darrol Wilson (coming off the Briggs upset) against Rick Sullivan. I had no idea who Gaines and Rick Sullivan were at the time. There really wasn't an internet to check.

    John Ruiz was also on the card, as was Courage Tshabalala and Bobby Harris. All were on the rise.

    Well, the PPV only showed the Obed fight and the Darrol Wilson fight. The Ruiz, Tshabalala and Harris fights weren't televised. One look at Gaines and Rick Sullivan, and I knew those fights were going to be duds.

    After a little less than two hours, it was over. No undercard fights were televised.

    Just two, slow heavyweight fights. That was it. When it was over, and the telecast was wrapping up, I felt like an idiot.

    Luis Ortiz vs Charles Martin. No titles on the line both shown to be faded and both never winning at world level after the fight either.
