Norton is a more skilled fighter, but we saw how he would end up against Punchers, Bruno would knock him out...
I like that you specify 15 rounds when it'd go nowhere NEAR that long, lol. Both men have a chance to catch each other, but Bruno's chance is bigger.
Apparently it is on this forum even if you’ve KO’d literally no one of note (which to be honest Bruno never really did at world level). I saw on another thread someone favouring Herbie Hide to bang Kenny out as well. I’d like to see a Butterbean vs Ken Norton matchup. I’ll bet at least one person thinks Butterbean takes Ken out early. It’s so stupid now.
Norton is the better fighter with the better list of wins. Carl Williams didn't have better chin than Norton yet he lasted 10 rounds vs Bruno while being past his best. Norton stops Bruno late.
I’d favor Bruno but not with as much conviction as others are doing. While Frank certainly had the kind of power that could knock out Ken he was a different “ type” of puncher than George Foreman. Who incidentally was the only man to stop Norton when he was at his pinnacle
Hi Guys. So we have the, rigid, robotic, stiff, lactic acid burning, overthinking, one two punching, fighter up against the altogether, much more relaxed, smoother, calmer, stalking, very experienced long distanced fighter, that beat Ali maybe twice, mmmm, will have to give this a lot of thought. stay safe guys. chat soon. Mike.
Listen, I've got whisker fatigue, so I'm just gonna pretend that I don't even have an opinion I wanna share on this.
Poor Ken, branded with one of the 2 most grievous faults in a boxer’s makeup - a “glass chin!” no less. Despite this shocking chink in his overall ability, he went toe to toe with Larry Holmes in one of the all-time great fights, as well as, realistically coming out even, at least with Ali, over 39 rounds. I remember watching him, live, taking an incredible thumping, on a closed circuit cinema screen, from Foreman. Far from being stretched out cold, he kept getting up against one of the greatest punchers. Norton would be my choice over amiable Frank, based on quality performances in the Ali, Holmes, Young fights. Neither Ken nor Frank were blessed with a genetically gifted chin, like Chuvalo, but that doesn’t spell out “glass!” Quitting, by the way, is the other taboo, no matter what!
That's what gets me when people state Norton had no chin. Going the distance 3 times with Ali and 15 with Larry Holmes... that's no glass!
Norton late stoppage for me, got to remember the men Kenny fought. Way better than Frank's, Ken in 10
This one is a queerly hard pick for me. Bruno had pretty damn good power, so I'm having trouble seeing Kenny move forward the entire fight as is his wont. He'd take some ugly shots and perhaps an elbow or three. I don't think Bruno's jab will be much use, it will become obvious early on Norton's is better and even stronger. There would be plenty of holding and nasty inside stuff from Sir Frank, Norton would score with the hook to the body and overhand right to the head. I think this would be a really good fight with some head popping exhanges, ending with Norton getting the kind of luck he almost never received in the real world and taking a close decision. I think they would both be very swoll after this fight. Here's an idea: Bruno wins one out of three. In one of the rematches he either knocks the hell out of Ken and stops him 2, or takes a hotly disputed decision lol.
