Usyk would school him with barely breaking a sweat. Ike didn't even punch as hard as Dubois or Joshua.
What exactly makes you think Ike would win? He is way too raw for Usyk. Out of 374 fights (amateur & professional), Usyk has only lost 15 (all amateur), but a guy that picked up the sport at 17 who went toe-to-toe with a guy 4 inches shorter than him beats an ATG that is taller and has a bigger reach?
Ike was more durable than both Joshua and Dubois and could throw more and land more. So even if he didn't hit as hard, his durability and stamina are a lot greater. There is no way that Kevin Larena was going to floor Ike 3 times. And Ike wouldn't have gone down to an Usyk jab either.
Ike is more unknown than known. People tend to extrapolate from a couple performances to create an entire fictional career. Given what I have seen of Ike, and having seen him in the flesh, I don't think Usyk would have many problems there. He just wasn't that good, at least yet.
I think that is an exageration. Ike was always bound to be a nutcase. Besides we aren't talking his mental health or his out of the ring behaviour here. He ate clean hard shots from Tua. No way Dubois or Joshua had the chin to do that.
I agree that people overrate Ike. I certainly don't think he is some proven ATG. I too question how Ike would do vs super heavyweights like Lewis or peak Wlad since we never saw him in vs a guy of that caliber, size and power. That being said, i don't think his durability can seriously be questioned. Going toe to toe vs a young hungry hard hitting Tua and taking those kinds of shots, that shows he had a chin. Even though it was only one fight, i don't think anyone can fluke their way for 12 rounds vs a huge hitter like Tua if they don't have a chin. I favour Usyk too but i don't see what's wrong with admitting its a tough stylistic match up. Ike is probably too durable to be stopped by Usyk and he has enough power to keep Usyk alert and more than enough stamina to keep up with him. Chisora isn't that good (despite Ike's short career, i see him as miles ahead of Chisora) and Chisora gave Usyk a pretty solid work out. I think assuming Ike will be competitive due to the combination of his power, durability and stamina isn't overrating him. Sometimes a non ATG can match up pretty well vs an ATG.
Alot of Usyk's Heavyweight fights have been competitive Granted the Dubois ones were not that competitive but Ike has a considerably better chin and he certainly didn't lack heart no way Ibeabuchi quits twice vs Usyk especially after a jab. But back to my original point about Usyk's competitive Heavyweight fights. Usyk was behind on all scorecards vs Fury in their 1st fight until the last 3 or 4 rounds. Usyk was in pretty much an even fight vs Chisora going into the championship rounds on the judges scorecards. Joshua 2 was also a very close fight going into the championship rounds on the judges scorecards. So whilst picking Usyk to beat Ibeabuchi is an acceptable opinion. I don't think claiming Usyk wouldn't have "much problems" is an acceptable opinion. Because historically most of Usyk's fights at Heavyweight have been competitive. I would also point out whilst Ibeabuchi doesn't have a vast resume. The fact he did stop a very tricky durable skillful southpaw in Byrd who was probably a top 5 Heavyweight of that era. And pretty much no one was doing that to Byrd at that time. I think Ibeabuchi would definitely give Usyk a run for his money with his insane workrate and very good chin.
They're literally nothing alike, polar opposites, you're only comparing them because they're both of Nigerian origin. Everything aside stylistically, Ibeabuchi fights 3 minutes a round, the Tua fight was a punch stat record IIRC. AJ gets gassed after throwing 4-5 punches and needs to steal rest inbetween. He doesn't fight 3 minutes a round, he fights in spurts. Against Wlad he was gassed for rounds after an early KO attempt. I think Usyk fast straight punches probably wins out, but Ike would be on his chest working his head and body and giving him no rest. Ike also has a punchers chance even against the best skilled operators, we all saw what he did to the defensively elite Byrd.
I'm comparing Usyk and Ibeabuchi. In my comment I make the case that AJ is substantially better than Ike and he still got whipped.
No you compared AJ and Ike too. Ibeabuchi had a far better defense than AJ and had far better workrate and stamina than AJ and it isn't remotely close. That obviously makes it a completely different match up. Who did Usyk have the most problems with? Aside from Fury, Briedis and Chisora, who both like Ibeabuchi brought high intensity pressure. Ibeabuchi is better than both.
