Bernard Hopkins

I was never a fan, but he clearly had the better career.

Toney was in better fights though, and wasn't a dirty boxer like B-Hop and perhaps had better pure boxing skills. But Hopkins is a far wiser man, and managed his career (and his life) much more intelligently.

 

James Toney was actually entertaining

 

Hopkins rather easily. I'm a fan of both. I don't like how Toney had a long stretch of irrelevance after losing to Roy Jones in 95. He didn't compete for a world title again until 2003. That's way too long. Once Hopkins won his first world title, he stayed either champion or in title contention until his 50s.

It should be noted this thread was from 08, BEFORE Hopkins beat Pavlik…. And won multiple titles at 175.
