Told you I had a funny feeling about this fight. I didn't expect Smith to stand and trade with Matias and fight his fight which was too risky given how that's what Matias excels at and Smith has never fought at that pace or this level but, as said, Matias gets hit too much and it will catch up to you in the end. He's an iron man but Smith can crack and he was landing clean and often too much. I think Smith would've succumbed to that pressure in the 2nd half of the fight and likely sooner rather than later but he gambled on going to war and the KO and it paid off. He simultaneously fought like a warrior and moron but it worked

Feel bad for Matias losing in front of his home fans again

Great fight while it lasted though

Smith is a very talented boxer but he proved his mettle tonight

He held too much and the stoppage was a bit quick

What a man Smith is. He went out and won a war of wills.

Likely perhaps, but not guaranteed. Just like with Knyba earlier today. Both guys should have been given the opportunity to come back...or go out on their shield.

Yeah, but that’s not what I’m referring to. I’m talking about how no one predicted Dalton would not only fight like this against Matias, but actually stop him in the process.

Quite frankly, I should've listened to my gut as well, after Johnson-Flaz a few weeks ago, a lightbulb went of that this one might go similarly. But I blocked it out. :ohno

Got this one completely wrong. Smith showed massive cojones, traded with the boogeyman, essentially fought Matias fight and beat him at it, and then knocked out a guy who has barely been down in his career. One of the great UK world title performances, arguably one of the top 5 overseas ones, because of the manner of the victory. I take comfort in the fact that nobody else called such a dominating, enormous knockout for Smith. (I apologise if you did and I missed it!)

I am absolutely over the moon for Dalton, who has proved me completely wrong, showing how much I know. The unpredictability of this sport makes it the best sport in the world. I stand by that unequivocally. In true boxing fashion, I watched it unfold via Yahoo updates because the PPV price was so extortionate.
