Teo vs Shakur

Anyone else think this is gonna be a snooze fest? Lots of posturing incoming I feel.

 

Shakur will lose because he can't properly pronounce the word "him"

 

You just named two absolute extreme and memorable cases.

Tyson was having a retraumatisation episode in front of the media and hopkins was specifically marketing the fight.

 

Got my ticket and am looking forward to this one

I want Shakur to win and think he has the tools but Teo has explosive power and wins over elite opponents like Lomachenko and Taylor

Shakur does not have a win of that caliber yet and his fight with De Los Santos was a poor outing. He did fight much better against Zepeda in a more recent fight

Teo did struggle mightily with movers in Martin and Ortiz but did easily defeat a good boxer in Barboza Jr

I am curious to see how Shakur reacts to getting hit by Teo who has explosive power, the most dangerous puncher he has faced so far

I know most mock Shakur's power but I think his left hand has some force behind it. He is not a one punch KO guy by any means but I think he hits hard enough to earn respect sort of in the mold of Mayweather at 147. His left is precise and quick, he may have the ability to score a flash knockdown if Teo gets greedy or under estimates that shot

While I'm not the biggest teo fan he definitely beat Loma

 

The main reason I am backing Teo is that the best fighters bring out the best in him, and Shakur has to be that guy; I can't think of any other 140-pound fight that would bring out the best in Teo. We saw it against Lomachenko and Josh Taylor, when he is focused, and the odds are against him, he brings out a scintillating A-game. The bookies have Shakur as a huge favourite here, which is why we should see the best Teo; his back is truly up against the wall here.

Another couple of factors people seem to be overlooking are Stevenson's lack of power and the fact that he is now in his 4th weight class. Padley didn't look bothered once by Shakur's power until the latter stages of the fight, and Padley is a British domestic-level lightweight. He's now facing arguably the best guy at 140, when he is at his best, that is. Teo has the power to hurt him, and once he realises Shakur has nothing behind his shots, I can see him forcing the action in the second half of the fight and winning a close, controversial decision.

Both of them have displayed pretty serious fragilities, and it'll be a case of whichever one holds their nerve wins this one. Teo had it after the Sandor Martin debacle when he asked, "Do I still got it?" - Shakur had it against DLS when he looked like he had PTSD any time DLS tried to engage. Stevenson is constantly seeking validation from people and their P4P rankings, and responding to every criticism he gets on Twitter; it is also a bad look and gives us an insight into what gets the gears moving in his brain.

The pair of them are often social media clout chasers first and boxers second, but when push comes to shove, Lopez has the much better wins, has faced better fighters than Shakur, is naturally bigger, and has shown he can really deliver when the heat is on. If I was a betting man, I like the odds on Lopez, but thankfully I am not, otherwise I would be skint, it's going to be a high-level matchup though, I'm looking forward to it.

 

De Los Santos is a bigger puncher than Teo at 140 imo. Edwin can crack like crazy and Teo hasn't been stopping anybody at 140.

 

I think Teo still has that explosive hand speed. Even if De los Santos is the harder puncher Teo has a better ability to deliver his punches. But Teo can be out boxed and we have seen it before. I feel this will be a great tactical boxing match

 

It is what it is. Hopkins was disingenuous and obviously wanted to sell the fight.

Look at tyson in that video. He harms his marketability and seems closer to tears than dangerous. What does he achieve? Nothing . And smack talk is meant to achieve Something.

I was reacting to the notion that those two incidents might indicate that everyone got soft and smack talk was so hard back then.

The examples don't match the message is all i'm saying. My post is not about tyson and hopkins per se.

I'm not excusing anyone, but if i was, hopkins would be worse, because he did it as a calculation while tyson was a wreck

 

Excuses

 

The fight is Shakurs to win or lose.

Stevenson can make adjustments in real time, Lopez needs his corner to tell him how to make that happen. If they both bring their best Stevenson wins.

Shakur is 5'8" and walks around at 155, same as Teofimo. Stevenson may have more snap in his punches at the new weight which could throw Lopez off his game.

 

Shakur, by boring decision.
