Looks like Vergil wants Ennis and it's Fishnets McEightball who doesn't. He even hired Gregory Smith, the lawyer who helped Canelo against Goldenboy. https://ringmagazine.com/en/news/vergil-ortiz-files-lawsuit-terminate-golden-boy-agreement How many fighters has Oscar lost or publicly fought with? Most famously Canelo, Ryan Garcia...now Ortiz.
I still dont understand why DAZN keep him and his promotion around. At best GBP has a handful of marketable names(of various levels), and they are rarely ever in meaningful fights, that is if they even fight at all. Most GBP cards are low level productions, and IMO DAZN should cut them off. Or! Force Oscar to co-promote with others more. Its insane that Ortiz vs Boots is not a done deal for DAZN.
I’m looking forward to the next Clapback Thursday from Oscar. This content is protected This content is protected
Ortiz showed interest in fighting Murtazaliev last year and Fishnets shot down the idea. https://ringmagazine.com/en/news/de...the-vergil-ortiz-vs-bakhram-murtazaliev-clash It seem like Ortiz clearly wants to fight Ennis and Fishnets is trying to sabotage another fight. Fishnets is acting like a ***** even though Ortiz wants to fight the best available opposition.
Many these days **** on Canelo for being a duck, but back in the day it was Oscar who tried to stop Canelo fighting Trout and Lara.
It never made sense to me that fighters hand over all the power to the promoters. Ortiz should say, I want to fight that guy. The manager makes it happen and once the fight is signed, the promoter gets busy promoting. The idea that the promoter controls everything is just weird to me.
What I read is that their deal is basically up and they won't be keeping Golden boy. Now is that just a rumour or truth or part of an ongoing saga I don't know
DLH clearly doesn't fancy Ortiz's chances against Boots. This is the same playbook we saw from Al Haymon and Spence against Crawford for years. Once Spence left him, the fight got made, and he got a life-altering beatdown from Crawford. This makes me think that if the fight gets made that Boots wins but I have always picked Ortiz - either way what a mess, Golden Boy Promotions must be on borrowed time now surely.
Fishnets grasping at straws here with the standard: asks a question that is really just a statement. Hope Ortiz wins his freedom.
What was the point of that in ring face off between Ortiz and Ennis if they didn't have a pre-deal in place?
