2026 Wilder vs current ring top ten heavyweights

I'd back prime Wilder against a lot of these guys but Wilder now is shot to bits so I'm not particularly confident in his chances.

I think it comes down to who has the worst defence and who is the most hittable.

 

TBF, if Wilder is actually as shot as Whyte, then he has a point...

Wilder ducked Whyte for a good reason in their primes (he'd have lost) - if Itauma could blast out shot Whyte, he could blast out Wilder just as fast.

Itauma currently against prime Wilder or Whyte is still an open question - we don't know if he can reach that level yet.

 

Aye, overrated as he was, I'd back him to some extent against at least half of this lot... In his prime.

Says plenty about how thin the division is towards the top at the moment.


Now, though? He's the zombie of, at most, a comically overhyped fringe contender... He'd realistically lose to most of them.

 

If Wilder can beat a top 10 heavyweight then it will prove that heavyweight division is crap now.

 

Wilder is shot to bits. In his prime he beats them all.

Today, he gets beat up massively. I don’t even give him much of a punchers chance as his dog is gone.

 

And yet, in his prime (or otherwise), he never beat a contender...

His best win was an ancient Ortiz, on heart meds, whose best win was an overrated Jennings (whose claim to fame was losing wide and ugly against Wlad).

And Wilder struggled with Ortiz, needing referees help the first time around.

Wardley, with Parker, has a better win than Ortiz.
Kabayel, with Zhang and Chisora, has better wins than Ortiz.
Dubois, with AJ, has a far better win than Ortiz.

So... Wilder beats them all? Seems unlikely.

Hrgovic he'd have a decent chance in terms of stamina and getting big hits in later on.. equally, Hrgovic chin is excellent and Wilder's wasn't, so Hrgovic mediocre power might've been enough.

Zhang beat him already, would Wilder ever have won? Maybe, maybe not.

Bakole is essentially an okay gatekeeper - probably would've given Wilder issues and then got stopped, much like Ortiz.
Gassiev possibly similar, though could definitely stop Wilder if he got going.

Itauma and Torrez are essentially still prospects - they might be better than they've shown yet, but prime Wilder would've been a big step up for them.

Ajagba would be your typical Wilder victim - he's very overrated and not that good... He'd get on his bike and eventually get caught.

He’d have KTFOd Joshua, I’d have put the house on it. Joshua wanted no part of that

 

Wilder is too generationally wealthy to have any desire left, injury ridden and hasn’t been able to pull the trigger on his right hand in four years. I’d pick everyone on that list to beat him in 2026, the most brutal being Itauma who would poleaxe him.

 

He wins none of those anymore.

 

That glass jaw gets shattered again and again and again....

 

For me, Wilder would simply lose to all of them now. I think The Bronze Bomber is a finished fighter (at top level) and can no longer win against the best in the category. His two losses against Parker and Zhang describe his condition well, and we're talking about 2023 and 2024. Now we're in 2026, Father Time is undefeated. Obviously, Wilder still has the puncher's chance, but for me, he's a clear underdog against these 10 fighters, and obviously also against Usyk.

 

Wilder seems to have lost his snap to me. Once that goes so does his ability to put people away.
I think he looses to most of the list:

Wardley - is there to be hit but I dont see Wilder landing the shot anymore and I think Wardley stops him
2 Kabayel - Kabayel outboxes him and takes him out
3 Dubois - See Wardley
4 Hrgybear - If Wilder has any kind of punch left and he can land some volume then maybe he can grind out a win against a guy who can switch off
5 Zhang - Got his lights turned off - next
6 Bakole - Another guy whos there to be hit and Martin is so lazy even so he can go rounds which Wilder doesn't do/.
7 Itauna - Too much speed to many angles
8 Ajagba - Probably lean towards AJagba being too fresh. He list of wins is solid but needs a name
9 Torrez -I dont havent seen enough of Torrez
10 Gassiev - If he can keep it long he has a chance I dont rate KOing an ancient pulev
