I hope you're right. It would be poetic justice for Fury to be KOed by Makhmudov. But I imagine he'll have a dishonest referee (like in the first Usyk fight and his Cunningham fight) and crooked judges on his side.
A safe test to see if Fury should bother with a comeback. Fury IS going to win this one, but how he wins is the test. If it's close, he doesn't have it anymore and should retire. If Fury wins a lopsided decision, he can seriously campaign for a belt.
U seriously wonder whats the goal now for Fury? Best this guy then the cash out against AJ? He is done at the top level.....he was beaten fair and square twice by a middleweight. Tbh even if he wins his fight in April he shouldn't get another shot at Uysk. I suspect he will target the softer belt option in Wardley.....he will hope to win that to get a shot at Uysk (again). Uysk imo has 2 fights left.....AJ im not convinced will fight anyone other than a Fury stadium showdown in the summer....if that doesnt happen AJ likely retires
The most interesting thing about this is which version of Fury shows up to this fight. Fury will be 38 this year and has abused his body (a big body at that) over the years which usually doesn't bode well. He also can show up unfocused when he's fighting someone he's not interested in or thinks is below him, which is what I would think he would think of Makhmudov. Makhmudov is no spring chicken either at 36 and is limited, but can hit like a truck. So could be an easy night for Fury if he's on form or a difficult night if he decides to go Wilder 3 and try to outslug Makhmidov, which he may have to do if his body can't do what it used to. Hmmm.
This isn't a bad fight after over a year of inactivity. Better opponent than I would have expected to be honest. Makhmudov isn't great but he's good enough to where if Fury isn't mentally and/or physically prepared he could lose.
The casual know who Mak is after the Allen win and it’s a formality fight for Fury if he’s even 75% what he was. Boxes the ears off him and most likely gets a late stoppage or corner retirement. Sets up the Wardley fight in the summer… job done.
i like arslanbek makhmudov and i hate luke partridge so this is a big fight for me. hope makhmudov can land some big slow right hands and pull it off
It's an OK fight. It's not enough to push the winner among the top 10 contenders but it's an okay fringe level fight.
He KO loses to Kabayel and Guido Vianello, almost disqualified on his last win. Lost 2 of his last 5 fights. This does not add anything to Fury's resume.
