I thought the same thing. An ex champion giving his opinion.
Now was he envious or jealous I don't know but he seemed accurate.

McCaffrey hadn't fought for 2 years was 175lbs ,and he wasn't knocked out. Mitchell was 165lbs,Corbett's winning record is ****!

 

Dempsey destroys Corbett.

 

Crazy for Corbett to say stuff like this when he took over 20 rounds to stop one of the most shot versions of a fighter ever seen in a ring. Not to mention the absolute nonsense of Dempsey being slow and stiff. Interestingly, I don't think I ever saw Sullivan talking in a disparaging manner towards later fighters. In fact, it was the opposite iirc.

Corbett is one of the biggest myths in boxing history. Dempsey would've utterly destroyed him.

In retirement he was notorious for being wrong in predicting fight results.

 

Corbett was either drunk or he's completely clueless. Dempsey is better than any HW that came before him.
