I don't see this matchup discussed very often which is odd, considering it's two recent former champs. Would easily fill out a UK stadium. Heck if Fury-Whyte did, this is guaranteed. Yes, like most people, I would love to see Fury-Joshua more than anything, but right now, I have my doubts whether Joshua will even step foot inside the ring again after the recent tragedy he was involved in. He may be fine physically, but mentally, it's gonna be a tough one to overcome. So how do you see this one going? I think it looks like most other Fury and Dubois fights. Dubois possibly knocks Fury down, Fury gets back up like usual. Then Fury will overwhelm him with the jab and Dubois takes a knee, or stays down at least. I just simply don't trust Dubois in big fights anymore. Yes he destroyed Joshua, but Joshua wasn't prepared for Dubois's early onslaught, and as we all know, when Joshua gets caught bad, he simply can't recover. Fury might be chinny, but he's excellent at recovering from knockdowns. I know Fury is fighting Makhmudov, but this could be a good one to take after. Then I'd like to see the Fury/Dubois winner take on Wardley for his belt. We don't need to see either have a trilogy with Usyk, not yet anyway. Usyk should be fighting Kabayel in the meantime. And then who knows? If Usyk beats Kabayel, maybe we will see undisputed again. Simple sport on paper isn't it?
With young Daniel back with Don Charles, and all those benders and "retirements" catching up with Fury in his late 30s and looking very old. This was one has a Young Daniel shock stoppage victory written all over it. Fury cannot move his legs these days and he has never been the biggest puncher out there. Young Daniel would have to be in very bad form to lose this one.
Fighting jake paul after losing and taking a long time off is borderline retirement. Had he taken an actual challenge - that might have prepared him for something bigger, but this way even without the crash it wasn't a great trajectory... Good luck to him
There's part of me that would find it hilarious if Joshua were to pretend he's not retiring just to troll and waste Fury's time. I'd rather see them fight, though.
Hmm, that's all ifs and buts though. I have to go by Fury's last performance which I personally thought was a close fight with Usyk, although admittedly I didn't score it, and I haven't watched it back since. Still, I think he proved enough in those last two fights to show that he's still elite, even if he's not quite on the same level as Usyk, which is no embarrassment. Yes, you can point at fights like Ngannou but Fury clearly hadn't prepared for that and thought it was gonna be an easy night's work. A fully prepared Fury stops Dubois I think. Although yes, age will catch up to him eventually like it does every fighter. Haha I like your thinking, but thankfully, compared to Fury, I think Joshua has a lot more class and wouldn't want to do that to the fans. Fury is all about himself and always has been.
I will be very happy to be proven wrong on this, but I think there is absolutely no chance he fights Dubois. The last time Fury fought a younger man, was Otto Wallin, and look how that turned out. It's one thing fighting 36-year-old Mahkmudov, it's another fighting a 28-year-old hungry lion in its prime, like Dubois.
Actually, you know what. He should absolutely target Dubois. It's win-win really. Beats Dubois and that elevates him above Joshua without even needing to fight Joshua. And if he loses, well, as long as he isn't stopped in the first round or two, his fans will still argue his case above Joshua. Fighting Joshua on the other hand, hmm... Big money fight, but potential ego-death is on the line
Plodding heavyweights with power are no match for Fury or Usyk. They arn't able to set themselves to land....Fury hasn't regressed enough that they can just brute force themselves into a position to land attrition shots to wear Fury down. Dubious is hardly a stamina fighter half the time though, Usyk stopped him with a jab by tiring him out. Even this regressed Fury, as long as he has legs under him at 80% capacity he could outfox Dubious. He will toy with Maduv. Fury's elbow's are his issue, not his knees...but his legs will go very soon, he has 1 maybe 2 top flight fights left in him and they will not be a cake walk.
