De Los Santos was an explosive boxer with some power and put Shakur on his bike. Teo is that and more. He'll also more aggressively press his advantage.

Lopez, unlike all the other Shakur opponents, has a farrrr greater chance of being treated fairly on the cards.

Lopez will have to pull out a vs Loma levelperformance and elevate it forther and be 100% focussed and stick to a game plan.

All signs point to a dull Stevenson UD, but would like to be wrong and Teo forces Shakur to dig deep and show us that re really is a special fighter.

I want Lopez to bring a more Abdullah Mason v Sam Noakes type showing out of Stevenson, but not sure he has that in hime and will be wary of Lopez power and explosive counters.

Shakur by UD. It’s crazy how much one fight (De Los Santos fight) ruined Shakur’s reputation and is now brought up all the time. He said he has a hand injury, which is believable given he’s never fought like that before or since.

 

Probably two of the most unlikeable fighters. Don't personally care who wins but I think Shakur wins comfortably by decision.

 

Teo.. Faster, bigger, harder hitting, more athletic, more tested.

 

It's part of the story to be sure, but I'm not about to suggest Teo had no agency or impact on the outcome. That's foolish.

 

So where was this smart tactical pressure last night? He isn't good at cutting off the ring, we saw it against Kambosos, Martin and now Stevenson. He's great when you come to him like Loma does due to his very short reach, but you give him movement, make him lead and try to cut off the ring, he isn't half as effective.

 

i think they just got the fight plan right against loma, which wasnt difficult to figure out. pivot with him to take away his angles, always keeping him directly in front of you. challenge moves forward by loma by meeting his advance with a punch to train him to be cautious. then use faints to stop an advance before it gets going, forcing loma to look for a different entry. the rest should just come natural given the advantages in size, strength and speed.

 

Ummm...Loma and Stevenson fight nothing alike. Therefore, applying pressure (smart or otherwise) is not likely to have the same efficacy or produce the same result.

Stevenson prefers someone who moves forward and initiates the action. It allows him to counterpunch, which he's brilliant at, and then quickly withdraw/move and reestablish control of distance and tempo. Trying to pressure Stevenson is exceedingly difficult and usually plays right into his hands.

Loma, conversely, generally prefers to use angles and his foot-speed to move forward and apply pressure to his opponent. By applying smart, tactical pressure, Teo forced Loma to move and reset defensively throughout the first half of the bout, forcing him to fight in a way he did not prefer.

This really isn't difficult, my guy.

 

Also when watching Teo's fight in the Olympics, where he got eliminated in the first round against Sofiane Oumiha (someone Keyshawn stopped) he lost for the exact same reasons in the Shakur fight and his other shaky performances. He couldn't cut the ring off and was being beaten to the punch every time he was forced to lead. This has been a fundamental problem with Teo as a fighter from the very beggining and he still hasn't fixed it as he and his dad are too delusional to even consider it a problem.
