Which boxer would scare you the most to run into a dark alley with ?

Even Tyson was more inclined to snatch an old ladies purse than to beat a man's ass in a dark alley.
My ultimate fear would be Charles "Sonny " Liston.
This man beat up Police officers in the 1950's and 60's. That usually got a black man killed during that era. Imagine what kinda crazy he had to be, or brave.
This man was a leg breaker for the Mob.
What kinda brave he had to be to work for that group. Knowing any slip up, he could be disappeared forever. Or better yet, slaughtered on the street, an example to anyone else who'd dare to cross them.
Liston had all the attributes to make a brave man empty his pockets.
The size, the skills, the reputation, and that stare........

His trash talking threats felt genuine. He even shut up James Toney. You gotta be a bad man to make a guy like Toney zip it.

 

As far as I know this guy only found out that the woman he'd insulted had a husband so large that he made the mountains look like hills ... when he found himself picked up and flying around in the air

Matthew Saad Barkley and Rahman were all gang enforcers as young men. Hopkins was very nasty on the street. Liston was a Union enforcer as well as a mob enforcer as previously mentioned. All violent men outside the ring when they were younger. Rocky Graziano was a big time trouble maker and said no one beat him in the streets. Chuck Wiggins is still the top guy you wanted to avoid. Especially after a few drinks

Years ago I got into it with Michael Carbajal. I young and teeming with bravado. He was retired but still maybe in his late 30’s or very early 40’s. I knew who he was but never really followed his career although we’re from the same city. What caused the altercation was him grabbing my girlfriend’s hand at a club, I angrily got in his face but he wasn’t very aggressive, he just looked kind of surprised and went about his way. Years later as a more mature man, I watching some of his old fights, let’s just say, I’m extremely thankful that he walked away. Small boxers of that caliber are still too dangerous for an average sized, inexperienced man.

 

You’ve also got to consider how hard a pro boxer hits for his given weight, as compared to a normal man. And how accurately.

And to the average guy off the street, getting hit by a hard hitting smaller boxer probably feels like getting hit by a truck. Nakatani could probably lay out your average burly 200lb dude with one shot. Just saying.

 

And he was already 54 in 54’…

 

Also didn't Toney mention Barkley brought a knife or something during one of the pressers.
