Larry says his contemporaries would school Mike

Larry was a great champion who I have a lot of respect for, but I don't think Mike losses to all his contemporaries as Larry claims.
Norton was a winnable fight for Mike, and I still don't think any version of Larry beats MT.

 

Muhammad Ali and George Foreman are the only two of the golden 70’s that I would give a real chance of beating a prime and fully motivated Mike Tyson….. and by fully prime and motivated I mean not the one who lost to Douglas… not the one who lost to Evander or Lewis or McBride or Williams…. I’m talking about the Tyson form the Berbick fight to the Spinks fight who was 100% focused with no external problems and had Kevin Rooney in his corner

 

Copium.. There's literally no one on Larry's resume before Tyson who I would favor to beat Tyson.. Speaking of the versions of each opponent Larry fought, of course.. (I'd favor prime Ali over Tyson)

 

Maybe he's right. Tyson is certainly overrated.

 

Mike literally beat the crap out several of Holmes' contemporaries and Holmes himself.

 

I've said this before, Prime Mike Tyson would be a nightmare in any era of boxing. Especially what we've seen in the past 20 yrs .
Now specific fighters would be Prime Tyson’s kryptonite.
But Kenny Norton at any stage of his career wouldn't be one of them.
Norton had major issues against fighters that could force him backwards. He was not very good at cutting angles. Or angling away from attackers. He was very stiff legged.
That's why he had major issues against Foreman , Shavers, and Cooney and was literally destroyed by all three early.
He'd have major issues against prime Tyson also. And more than likely the results would be the same.
And early ko loss for Norton

 

Tyson was lucky he never had to fight Spinks. Larry's contemporary would have schooled him

 

So he's still salty after nearly 40 years, huh?

 

Mike would beat Norton and Frazier

I'd favor Ali, Foreman and Holmes

All would be great fights

 

Loved Larry growing up and he is a top 5 heavyweight for sure. However Larry is full of it here, Ali and Foreman are the only 70s heavys who have a shot against prime Tyson. And Larry would never beat a prime Tyson, styles make the fight Tyson wins 10 out of 10. Ken Norton? He must be drinking Tyson kos Norton in 1 or 2 rounds EASY.

 

It’s cool that Larry Holmes has finally entered one-name celebrity status like Ali, Cher, Bono, Prince and Oprah.

OP didn’t mention his last name in title or original comment and everyone immediately know who this was about.

Not sure who ‘Mike’ is but I’ll figure it out.
