How good was it? We know he landed a great one vs Weaver but outside of that, did he show a genuinely great uppercut? Like Tyson, foreman or Lewis ?
Not a frequent weapon but an effective one for sure. In addition to the more conventional up-the-middle-at-close-range uppercut, Holmes also sometimes threw a kind of sidearmed right uppercut as a counter to a right hand. I think we saw it against LeDoux (it literally turned his eyelid inside out, causing searing pain and a stoppage) and Witherspoon, maybe in a few other bouts — not a KO type blow as far as power but one that sometimes caught opponents because it was an unusual counter from an unusual angle. (Did he also throw it against Norton maybe?)
he landed some nice ones on Ray Mercer, when Larry was in the corner he would block Rays vision then come up the middle
There was a lot of power behind that uppercut of Larry’s. Often wonder what would have happened if that arm hadn’t got caught in the ropes against Tyson right before Mike nailed him
