I'm not talking about the SRR,Monzons but non great fighters that may give Hagler an hard fight. I'm putting Herol Graham up there.
I'd say GGG can give Hagler a tough battle. Hagler would win but he'd have to fight tooth and nail to secure a victory over GGG. Michael Nunn would have also given Hagler a tough fight for him to overcome.
Michael Watson I think would give Hagler a good fight before ultimately being stopped late. Slick out boxers like Kalambay and Reggie Johnson would trouble him aswell I think
I think a prime Daniel Jacobs would be troublesome. Hagler was an excellent fighter but he is from a far stricter era of weight cutting, he was only like 165 lbs in the ring, you can find modern welterweights bigger than him. Jacobs had like 20 lbs on Hagler and was a good boxer that moved well. He definitely loses but I think he could make it interesting.
Jacobs?? Hagler would make mincemeat out of a B- (at best) fighter like Jacobs. I don't care if there was a 50 pound weight discrepancy. A guy like Jacobs would have been lucky to pick up a USBA title in previous decades. There are literally zero Middleweight Champions from the beginning of time through the late 90s that I would pick Jacobs over. None. The only reason Canelo ever dared fight GGG is when he saw that GGG had slipped to the point where he couldn't stop a Jacobs level fighter anymore. Jacobs may be a great guy, but, he was not a great fighter.
What about the Worm, or the Mosquito? I’ve a big fan of Hagler but he lacked confidence sometimes, would have loved to see a prime Monzon v a prime Hagler
At his best he was like a ghost to fight. He came so close to beating McCallum and one round away from beating Jackson.
I'm convinced Joey Giardello would be a problem for Hagler. In a three fight series he would win one imo. Just a very awkward fighter and an amazing ring general at his best.
The list of men who could give pretty much any other man a hard fight is so long that it maybe doesn't need be listed. The list of men who could do it in style is almost no one. What do I mean by that? I don't know. But I don't not know either. If that makes sense. And it doesn't. Save for the way in which it most certainly does. And I don't think I need to explain myself any further. Fergy.
Harry Greb's illegitimate half-brother, Barry Snow from the north - born of the wildings, slept with the wildings, fought to the death, resurrected through dark means and convincingly won his rematch ... Boxrec record is incomplete but they whisper songs of his feats in many a bar throughout the seven kingdoms.
You sound upset. Jacobs was like two or three rounds total spread over two fights away from being the best middleweight of his era.
