Brandon Figueroa resume: Luis Nery Nick Ball Mark Magsayo Jessie Magdaleno Carlos Castro Joet Gonzalez Draw with Julio Ceja Most fans thought he beat Stephen Fulton the first time So 4 champs, 5 if you count Fulton, a draw with an champ, and some sneaky gatekeeper/contender level guys. I think he might be a bit underrated all together, despite the bad Fulton loss
Pretty good for a guy who looks so clumsy so often in the ring. The Ball win is really good but I do worry he'll struggle to stay at world level for long just because of how much punishment he takes and how attritional his style is. If he can string together another few good world-level wins like Leo or Espinoza then he could very easily makes a case for himself as a P4P talent.
That KO of Nick Ball was brutal and I sincerely hope he takes a good long rest as he was blowing out his arse from round 3. Genuinely feel Ball has overdone it with the activity as hes regressed since the Ray Ford win. Fairplay to Fig as he fought in such a way that he just would not be denied. His work rate and sheer size pose a real problem to anyone around that weight.
Hes definitely surpassed his brother, and IMO he has a pretty good resume. I kinda hope they make a third fight with Fulton. And I am still surprised that he not only managed to stop Nery, but hes also now stopped Ball.
Ball, Neri, Magsayo are all very good wins. He could've won the first Fulton fight but it wasn't a robbery. His win over Gonzalez - now that was a robbery. Best resume at 126, or even 130 for that matter.
You'd have to say pretty darn solid by modern standards. When Figueroa maintains a good output, he's a hard man to deal with. He likely showed up in better form for Ball than he did for Gonzalez. Understable with it being a title shot.
