Wardley almost certainly against Dubois, what are the chances now that Usyk vs. Kabayel happen?

The poll has 19% ruiz, 28% wardley. Almost equal between four options. It's international casuals. Someone on here said that maybe usyk waits for riyadh season money at the end of the year to fight kabayel. But kabayel is outspoken about a big summer stadium fight in germany (against usyk) and said they are looking at big soccer stadiums in germany.

Personally, I find it likely that they build kabayel in germany against whoever i don't care because they will probably not get usyk and usyk takes his uninspiring opponents of choice that I will watch the next day on youtube.

Usyk should retire or give up the belts or be stripped. Didn't they already strip stevenson?

I am turning to other matchups in the meantime. Mexicans, japanese and australians don't disappoint.

And wardley dubois is a great matchup however undeserved for dubois. Maybe he kind of deserves it by boxing business ligic by taking more challenges than almost anyone

 

Let's look at their records...

Usyk's fought the top guys already - sure, he's looked like he's shown interest in some mediocre bouts lately, but he's basically cleaned up already.

Kabayel on the other hand... Yes had form for getting into decent position and then taking awful fights - he repeated that recently by fighting Knyba (having targeted Hysa first) who is so far off the radar that he'd even have been considered a poor opponent for declined Wilder, yet Kabayel gets less abuse for taking that than Usyk did when the idea of him fighting Wilder was floated.

And then Kabayel's been linked with decent fights for years - AJ, Fury, etc - they never happen.


Let's be honest, Usyk's probably not the biggest stumbling block to it happening at this point - Kabayel looks happy sitting on his interim and killing time until he can get elevated.

 

Kabayel should fight a top contender (Wardley, Dubois, Hrgo, Parker, Fury) and win in my eyes that would credibly qualify him for a Usyk fight. Knyba, Makhmudov, Zhang, Sanchez not enough.

 

It's hard to say what will happen. I hope Kabayel is Usyk's next opponent. I think the German is the one who most deserves a chance at the world title, and Usyk - Kabayel is the most interesting heavyweight fight there could be today. Kabayel's manager, Spencer Brown, said, in the Kabayel - Knyba postfight, that he wants to organize a Usyk - Kabayel in Germany. I hope he succeeds, that there's a financial offer that can convince Usyk to face Kabayel (whether it's in Germany or elsewhere, it makes no difference to me).

this is where I think governments should sometimes get involved. the world is divided and **** these days, and things like sporting events are one of the last things people can experience together and not obsess over other ****.

given that Kabayel has a decent shot of beating Usyk, and a good shot at beating Wardley, perhaps the German government should toss some money into the pot to help make a huge event in which their man might set on a path to becoming undisputed.

 

It looks like Kabayel may be waiting for Usyk to retire. Pretty disgraceful really.

 

Considering we’re still waiting on an official announcement for wardley vs Dubois I wouldn’t be shocked if Usyk swoops in and takes the wardley fight now considering if Dubois wins they’ll be calling for Usyk again. I know Usyk loves a rematch against a fighter he’s already beat convincingly but I doubt even he wants a trilogy with Dubois.

 

Kabayel should be who he’s fighting either way. I know ring magazine reported Kabayel would return against a unnamed British fighter (assuming Okolie) so doubt that’ll be next

 

I think Usyk is gonna retire first.

Or, he should retire before somebody makes him.

 

Usyk seems to be happy resting. The longer he stays away the more difficult it will be for him to get back. I think he is struggling to motivate himself at the moment. I would like to see Kabayel in Germany. I don't know who he will fight next though. I would take anyone at the moment.

 

Understandable, in many ways...

If you were managing a guy with an interim title, with a record whose highlight is a slow, old, fringe contender - followed by a couple of gatekeepers, then a journeyman and plenty of domestics...
Would you throw him in with an elite boxer, with skill levels, speed and ring IQ off the charts from anyone your boy had beaten?
Or would you keep him aside and wait for the era to thin out whilst doing just enough to maintain position and hopefully get to a point where your investment pays back big?

It's clear he'd have a mountain to climb with Usyk, and unlikely he'd get close - you can see why he's not going there it he can avoid it.

Or people just respect that Wardley beat Parker and Kabayels last two wins were against some random European level fighter and an old man who's breathing out of his arse after 4-5 rounds at the best of times.

Kabayel should fight Hrgovic to arguably match Wardley's win against Parker.
