I am mystified by how he is so left hook reliant. Surely someone with that kind of natural athleticism should be able to throw the right hand as effectively as he throws the left hook.
Ryan is faster than Shakur, Haney and Teo. You would also think he would have an amazing jab but he really is a one trick pony.
All the athletic gifts, without the dedication, mentality, or concentration we see from someone like Shakur. If Garcia had spent years in the gym, listened to his coaches, implemented changes, and lived a clean lifestyle, he'd be a very dangerous fighter, but he's too immature and lacks the mental fortitude at the elite level. He's also 28 this year, not a spring chicken in the boxing world.
Yeah, sorry, I should've been clearer here. For somebody like Usyk in the bigger weight classes who turned pro at 26, then 28 is definitely young, given how they often develop in their 30s. But Garcia turned pro at 18, has been found out a couple of times, and has displayed incredible levels of immaturity, as well as drink and drug issues, which all contribute to making his career shorter. He's probably riddled with undiagnosed ADHD, but it actively contributes to his lack of development, and if he hasn't developed his right hand over the last decade in the pros, then I don't see him doing it now. 28 is young for someone who turned pro at 25/26, but for someone who turned pro at 18, if he loses to Barrios, that could be the last we see of him at the world level. That's what I meant. I think he's going to beat Barrios by the way, just for context.
Venus de Milo tried to develop a left and a right but it was all for naught. The nail-biting incident was irreparable.
If he was a completely different person that took his craft seriously as opposed to just skating & gliding by on his god given gifts? yes.
