If Floyd Pacquiao happened straight after the Cotto fight, then that would have been number 1.

Top two for me are Ali Foreman and Ali Frazier 1, by a distance

A 36 year old shot Tyson vs 37 year old overweight Lewis? You serious?

It was seen as a easy match for foreman. No one gave Ali a chance. Ali - Frazer a fight between 2 unbeaten champs to decide who the real heavyweight number 1 was was much bigger.

    Itsnot even close

The heavyweight title was still the biggest title in boxing back then an Holmes v cooney did make headlines around the world back then an yeah the racial aspect of the matchup in the build up was a big part of the attraction

For me, it has to be The Rumble in the Jungle. That's the one that always comes into my mind immediately whenever this question is asked. I'm curious though, how big was The Sunshine Showdown at the time?

The fight that started off my interest in boxing though was The Bite Fight. I'm a sucker for a good controversy, and I heard about it in a documentary and watched it on Youtube, and I just had to watch more of Tyson's fights. And then I checked out some of Holyfield's. I'd literally never watched any boxing before that point but there I was, just getting absolutely hooked on 90s heavyweight fights. Then soon after that, the Haye-Chisora press conference bust-up happened, and I was like 'I am SO watching that fight'... so yeah Haye Chisora was my first ever live fight. Despised Chisora back then. Never looked back since. Went way off topic there but yeah. Ah, memories.

Yes. It was still a huge fight no matter what your opinion was of both fighters.

    Hi Guys.
All the above choices have merit, and wouldnt argue with any ( Tyson/Spinks Mmmm ) my personal pick would be Johnson / Jeffries not least because of the social climate of the time, and Johnson overcoming the bigotry and prejudiced of his race, that took fortitude and immense courage, which isn't always recognised as much as it should I feel, so yes that's the fight in my mind, as a second the FOTC was monumental
and the first between two undefeated HWs.
    stay safe guys, chat soon.
    Mike.

    It's one of three:

    Johnson vs Jeffries
    Louis vs Schmeling II
    Frazier vs Ali

I like Louis vs Schmeling II these days. I like the Germans pulling the plug on the broadcast, that tips it over for me.

A word for the 1921 meeting between Dempsey and Tunney, an honourable mention I guess. 80,000-90,000 in attendance and it was the first internationally broadcast title fight. What a moment.

    Mayweather vs Hatton was massive.

In the bookmakers, an entire wall was dedicated to the fight. You never get that with boxing fights.

    I'd argue Louis-Schmeling 2.
