What's next for Anderson, Hrgovic, and Bakole?

Inactivity with Hrgovic is nothing new.

Anderson needn't be ruined by his first loss, but whether he grows from it and goes on to do more, or whether he goes no further or quite altogether... Who knows... Motivation doesn't seem to be his strong suit.

Bakole seems to fight at least once a year and usually more often than that - we're not at a year yet, but you'd expect something to have been in the pipeline by now... Limitations or not, he can be entertaining enough that it's a shame he's not back in the thick of it.


Ultimately these guys aren't really top tier - and might never be - but that makes you expect them to be fighting even more so.

 

Probably staring a the ceiling praying for a Riyadh Season payday.

 

Anderson vs. Jermaine Franklin. Franklin would test him but doesn't hit hard enough to upset the apple cart again.

Hrgovic doesn't have a ton of options. he's close to a title shot but not quite there yet. the best opponents for him are busy. would like to see him fight Dubois again but hes fighting Wardley soon. I imagine it will be another dull fight next. Ajagba would be good but working with Zuffa may complicate matters. so if that's not possible Zhang II and should he win that Chisora/Wilder winner.

Bakole vs. Miller. Long overdue. to oversized hws with decent workrates going at it.

 

Anderson lost by brutal TKO in a fight where he was a strong favorite. I didn't consider him a favorite, Bakole was simply underrated and very dangerous, a bad matchup for a young prospect.

Hrgovic mentioned 4 names he's interested in - Wardley, Dubois, Fury, Kabayel. He should have gotten the Wardley fight sportswise, he is ranked 2nd and comes off 2 decent wins, but of course Dubois coming off a KO loss gets the title shot again. So we can cross out Wardley and Dubois, 2 most interesting and "realistic" options. Fury wouldn't dare fight Hrgovic, unlike most people here he understands his quality (

) , so he chose Makmudov instead. And Kabayel won't fight Hrgovic because one of the people in his team is (or at least was) a Croat (like Hrgovic) who advised him against it because he knows how dangerous Hrgovic is, and Kabayel got cut so he needs his cut to heal anyway. So yeah you can forget about Hrgovic getting a good fight. Sportswise he deserves the Wardley fight for the title, but because as I said in another thread boxing is a corrupt circuslike business, not a sport, he'd be "lucky" to get any top 10-20 name to fight.

And Bakole has the same problem as Zhang. He's too fat and lazy. Diet discipline and cardio are fundamental in boxing. Bakole lost to Parker because of sprained ankle because he came obese to the fight, short notice or not. Looked fat and slow against Ajagba as well, was disgusting to watch. Zhang lost Parker and Kabayel fights because of his weight and poor cardio, IMO he could have won both if he came in better form. Perhaps could have even won against Hrgovic if he came in good form, though he better form vs Hrgovic than Kabayel and Parker. Fury also did better against Usyk the first fight than second. Being fat is quite simply a net negative, coming into fights fat is handicapping yourself.

 

If we're lucky enough, Kabayel is fighting in May. Could be against Hrgovic. Or someone barely passable as this HW division is so dry like Okolie or Ajagba.

Wouldn't get my hopes up though as Kabayel has a pattern of fighting unproven nobodies.

 

Franklin is cashing out against Ituama. I doubt he fights after that,

Ajagba would be a great fight for Hrgovic.

Better reinforce that ring.

Ajagba's fight against Martin showed us something about Bakole. Martin has a high KO ratio and can crack. Ajagba ate plenty of his best without issue. However, the second Bakole landed anything, Ajagba started running. Also, Ajagba iced Martin as soon as he started landing; however, he got a lot of clean power shots right on the button for Bakole, and Bakole ate them without issue.

Ok, I'm not sure that being shown to hit harder than, and have a better chin than, a past it Charles Martin means anything. But just saying.

And actually, Bakole vs Zhang would be a fun one. Put it on the Wardley-Dubois undercard!!! Absolute perfect companion fight. Kind of like going to the strip club that pulls the girls from the local trailer park instead of the local college; quality won't be as high, but it'll still be fun in its own trashy kinda way.

 

He just doesn’t have great power and he seems to not have the best heart. He has speed but imo in the HW division, heart and power matters more, unless you’re top tiered skilled like Usyk which he is not.

 

Agreed. I've always wanted to see Bakole/Zhang.

 

That would be a decent fight - Hrgovic isn't too special, but he'd still make Kabayel's top 3 (behind Chisora and Zhang).

In all honesty, I don't suspect either of them would really want it, though.

 

Anderson has just passed 1 year since his last fight, haven't heard of anything scheduled for him yet either. He did want to retire young though

 

Bakole totally beat the **** out of him. I don't think Anderson ever really want to be in boxing. promoters had hope that he would be a fresh of breath air for the HW division. Hard to rebound from a loss like that. Unless he is being shelved with the hope that he can snatch up an easy belt once they splinter off again.

 

That BORING boy Hrgovic is lingering around like a good-looking bad smell waiting for the winner of EXCITING heavyweights Wardley and Dubois as he has a high ranking with the WBO and opposites attract as well I guess.

 

They shouldn't have. They should all be rated higher then Wardley. The WBA having Wardley fight Huni for interim belt still confuses me.

 

Wrong, Wardley beat Parker in a competitive fight. The funny thing is you're going to keep talking trash even after he KOs Dubois. Wardley is the real deal when will you peope learn. Anderson, Bakole and Hrgovic all have a worse resume than Wardley, Hrgovic couldn't even get rid of Adeleye
