Joshua's punching power is overrated

No matter the context I see it used, the quote always makes me laugh.

Joshua was pulling his punches even just before the KO, imo. He could have got Paul out of there in a round if he really wanted to.

Small correction: he did drop Takam, round 4 iirc, although the stoppage was very soft.

He's more cautious than he is gung ho, which partly explains why his opponents frequently go rounds with him. If he'd landed a big right hand on Helenius in round 1 then he probably KO's him.

I'd say Joshua has big power but he's usually afraid to use it due to his flaws in other areas.

 

I don't know, I heard he killed 16 Czechoslovakians. He was an interior decorator.

 

You are childish . AJ punched paul as soft as possible to carry him thru the rounds instead of killing him inside 30-40 sec first round .

Ask ngannou how aj hits and imagine it was not ngannou,s but paul,s head .

 

Paul has better footwork than Ngannou as much as it pains me to say. He was backpeddling and joshua failed to cut the ring. Joshua never had the ability to cut the ring

 

Well , generally i meant that we could ask ngannou if aj,s punching power is overrated or not and imagine what would happen to paul if that right that put francis into sleep and on oxygen would hit paul .

I agree ngannou,s footwork is lousy but i still
believe he would destroy paul in a boxing match

 

1) The fact that AJ didn't pull the trigger early vs Helenius doesn't mean his power punching is overrated. Actually, when he landed, the (one punch ) KO was absolutely devastating.

2) Pulev is a very solid fighter, and even Klitschko had to put him down multiple times before stopping him. The Gassiev KO happened exactly five years later when Pulev was well into his 40's.

3) Again, Ruiz is a fighter with a very good chin and AJ was the first to put him down with a neat 2 punches combo.

4) Like someone said earlier, Takam went down in the fourth and was just stopped once before. I agree that Takam showed great courage but even a power puncher like Wilder also had trouble stopping another resilient fighter in Duhaupas. And contrary to Joshua, he didn't put him down.

5) I agree about Klitschko. Again, not wanting to make excuses, but it was the kind of fight where the ex champion showed up for one last great performance and gave everything he had. Still, nobody stopped Klitschko with one shot.

 

AJ wasn't even trying in that fight.

I don’t think Joshua’s power is overrated I think all the heavyweights are rated pretty fairly apart from wilder.
The truth is that no other top heavyweight has ever thrown punches like that because they have actual boxing ability, that is why his power is overrated, he is the only one who throws without control or proper technique he swings from any position
