Why? It is a winnable fight at cruiser for benavidez. Opetaia isn't.

And on top it will bring eyes and and a good purse and recognition. He will go back down to light heavy with a different kind of profile if he wins.

Its random because no one was asking for it. Benavidez just moved to 175, became an e-mail champion and then immediately moves up in weight? Wtf? He was supposed to be the badass who fights everyone, and 175 has two HOF´s waiting for him.
On the other hand Zurdo is supposed to fight Opetaia.

So yea, its a random ass fight because these guys are fighting each other instead of the best in their respective divisions. Reminds me of Tank vs Cruz.

Benavidez looks skinny but not ripped or drained for a LHW. He will be genuinely fat at 200.

Should have fought Bivol and Beterbiev first. Going back down in weight can have effects to punch resistance and stamina.

Benavidez got tired of waiting for his turn, don't blame him.

Agree that this is a strange fight. No one really cares about Zurdo. He is what he is. Benavidez has the potential to be great, and he can do it at 175.

This feels like he envisioned at least a year of Bivol messing around, Beterbiev deciding he would either fight a trilogy or retire, and saw no other big names around. David wants to eat while he waits for traffic to clear up.

Not a good sign. Hopefully he remains focused.

I disagree, they are both Mexican’s and they seem to not like each other’s so it has some back story.

I also would like him to stay at light heavyweight but I think the fight makes sense, it’s also a little kick to Canelo that say he doesn’t want to fight another Mexican.

I am not saying its a bad fight, but that its just so ****ing random. One of those future "what if" matchups, but its actually happening.

But he's not Mexican he's Mexican American not even that he's half Mexican half Ecuadorian why i always thought Canelo should have Come clean and just said he's to big and I don't want that smoke

Benn gets **** on so much more than he deserves. Guy has ducked no-one despite the ridiculous claims. He'd fight Bivol or Biev tomorrow. Called out Canelo when Canelo was steam rolling 168 lbers. I think he's going to beat up Zurdo and dominate in the same fashion Biviol did. A bit premature to call him great but certainly a top fighter of this generation and a shoe in for the HOF. I wouldn't pick him him to beat Opa but he sure as **** wouldn't duck the fight and make no mistake, it's no gimme for Opa. I expect him to move back to 175. He likely beats current version of Biev and a toss up w Bivol.
