Nothing ever happens. They might as well stop testing. Now he gets a year to cycle and clean himself up. Still has the belts.
Thank goodness he kept his belts. Nobody at 160 beats Janibek. I would like to see Janibek vs Boots one day
Thats unfortunate news and just a shame. Janibek is a top 5 boxer I enjoy watching but to be caught with a hot test is inexcusable. And to not strip the title is mind boggling. As they say its another black eye for the great sport of boxing
Did you not read the article? The suspension stems from a positive test for the banned substance meldonium in the lead up to Alimkhanuly’s scheduled December 6 unification bout with WBA Middleweight Champion Erislandy Lara. It's a Latvian produced drug that helps with blood flow in patients with heart problems. Ends up helping stamina and recovery because it improves heart function in low oxygen environments, like what would occur under high activity exercise.
So if he's not stripped then the punishment is basically a little cycling holiday before his next defence. Only in boxing .
WBO confirmed that both tests were positive. WBO gave notice and a timeframe for Janibek´s team to make their defense, to which they responded with that the KPBF - Kazakhstan professional boxing federation - was handling their case and defense. The WBO states that they gave a defense, but I cant find it anywhere. The WBO´s official ruling was that Janibek is a first time offender, and thus stripping him of the title would be going too far. Yes, that is their actual position. Janibek of course hid behind the classic excuse: "VADA took the first test and said everything was clean." IMO, its blatant corruption. Janibek is a Top Rank boxer and Top Rank has been in bed with the WBO for decades now. There have been instances where WBO champions at some weight classes were all Top Rank fighters for years and years. Since 2007, every WBO featherweight title fight has been promoted by Top Rank... how the **** is this even possible? https://boxrec.com/en/title/91/Featherweight Official WBO resolution: https://docs.google.com/viewerng/vi...19-CC-Resolution-Final-Alimkhanuly-.pdf&hl=en
