Ray Robinson vs Lomatta #5 ("You didn't put me down Ray". Lomatta allegedly said. True, but he damn near killed him.) Holmes vs Cobb. Cobb was basically beat up for 15rds. A beating so bad Howard Cosell stop announcing boxing matches after it. ( For some fans that was a good thing) Tyson vs Biggs. Tyson in his prime, he could've ended the fight much earlier. But he said he wanted to Torture Biggs. He did. Ali vs Terrell. Ali in his prime and at his cruelest. 15 rds. Terrell kinda brought it on his self though, only thing he had to do was respect Ali's name change in public. He arrogantly choose not to, he paid for it in the ring. Benny Paret vs Emile Griffith Fight should've been stopped much earlier, unfortunately it wasn't, ended up with Parets death. However, most knowledgeable fans agree, the damage may have already been done to Paret from his prior fight, against Gene Fullmer, a strong and natural middleweight , where he was beaten badly and K'oed Duran vs Moore: Arguably Duran's best performance and win against a world class opponent above welterweight. Everything was working for Duran this fight, and the body attack had Moore flinching. A one sided beat down . Qawi vs Saad Muhammad #2. The 1st fight was a great indication, but the 2nd fight was proof Saad Muhammad was done as a professional boxer. Qawi did seem to relish beating the hell out of him though. Hilton and Hamsho vs Benitez. Imagine this, the very limited Hilton and Hamsho did more damage to Benitez than Cervantes, Palomino, Leonard, Hearns, Hope, and Duran.
There are many. And the example I’m about to give isn’t even the worst. But Andre ward vs chad Dawson was pretty damn bad
Vitali vs Briggs, Rahman vs Meehan was pretty bad as well but mercifully was stopped, Wlad vs Byrd in both their fights.
Calzaghe vs Lacey. Keep in mind that Lacey was fancied by many to win this one or at least make it close. Calzaghe dominated every minute and essentially finished Lacey’s career in one fight. Duran vs Moore is another good example.
Hopkins-Joppy was the first one that came to mind. Hopkins made a $50k bet with Joppy that he'd win by KO. Hopkins failed to do so and lost the bet, but put quite a beating on Joppy while trying...
Hi Guys. Lots of excellent pics, no argument, for my fight you have to go back to September the 15th 1972, the eve of Mexican independence day, strangely enough, when the 2nd golden boy ( Aragon being the first ) Mando Ramos defended his title to the swarthy, meanincing, infighter that was Chango Carmona, they were polar opposites in many ways, the clean living non drinking, non smoking, always in shape Carmona, up against the party loving, drug abusing, late night reverllar, that was Ramos, handsome , charamasic, with film star looks, Mando had it all before him, but he lacked the discipline of the truly great fighters, he punched with KO power, why should he bother to train, he was tall had a long reach , with sound boxing skills, leave the grind to lesser mortals, he was champ and would stay that way for a long long time, or so he thought, in the ring they looked like a mirror image of one and other, both bronze of skin, a hint to there Mexican heritage, Ramos as stated was the taller, and looked the slightly bigger fighter, he looked supremely unimpressed with the fighter in the opposite corner, who was squatting, ala Napoles, when the bell chimed Carmona advanced with harmful intent, his coal black eyes burning with disdain, the feelings you get when you have played second fiddle to the vainglorious Ramos, who would be surrounded by pretty young girls, a throng of paperartzi, acolytes reaching to shake his hand, not so with Carmona, the lesser of the gyms, no one around to see his workouts bar his trainer and manager, his wasn't asked to pose mid ring with good and the great, as was Mando, he didn't cut his sparring short so he could take a trip to the beach, or to the lounges and bars that were all to ready to ply him with cocktails, would be rude to refuse was Mandos mantra, he would pay dearly for that approach, it would nearly cost him his life, as to the encounter, Chango, as promised closed the distance and raked the champ with sickening shots to the body, liver, kidneys, heart, all were pounded, round after round, as if that was not enough, he seemed to get a primitive delight in rearranging Mandos once handsome face into a bloody mess, the pretty girls were fast leaving the arena, his corner knew what was unfolding, the candle was burning to the middle, as it always does, the knockdowns only hastened the ending, the all to seeable ending, after 8 rounds the champ, soon to be ex champ, was a gory mess, only his fighting heart kept him in the fight, but even that couldn't prevent the inevitable, the king was dead, long live the king, he was carried on a stretcher from the ring to the waiting ambulance, and then to the local hospital, to his everlasting credit Carmona visited him constantly during the 2 days he was kept there, that was it for Ramos, he promised so much, but the ****** was on his back, as it would be on many a fighters back, sad, so sad. stay safe guys, chat soon. Mike.
