Met him a couple of times. Outstanding fighter. All four of his title challenges were very competitive. The Chavez fight is still one of those 'go to' fights where I can enjoy excellent boxing, sharp exchanges and an exciting, competitive fight rolled into one. RIP.
Damn. Hadn't seen him commentate in a while. Don't know if he was ill. Dude faced some of the greatest fighters of his era. Much respect to the warrior. RIP.
RIP Ruben. Quality boxer, so unlucky to face peak Arguello and Sanchez and then Juan Laporte in one of his best performances. Washed up against Chavez but though completedly outgunned gave it his all. No doubt would have won a title in todays boxing world.
Underrated fighter who fought in a deep era and was neck and neck with Sanchez. Gave stiff tests to Arguello and Chavez. I truly enjoyed him as a t.v. commentator.
