He was just ultra cautious for the most part, due to him being psychologically scarred from the early knockout defeats.

I wasn't a fan of his style either but he was ruthlessly effective at his peak. If you go a decade where you barely lose a round, your several levels above the opposition of your time. I'm not sure when his absolute peak is, but he's obviously levels above in the Peter rematch.

Also why don't you nostalgics complain about Ali's holding? It was nearly as bad as Wlad's.

The later version of Wladimir Klitschko who boxed more wisely and conservatively could have beaten a lot of world champions throughout history. To be clear this rendition was less exciting to watch and sometimes pushed the boundaries of the rules with the amount of holding he did. But regardless he was effective.

 

I had to google it to get the reference but it made me learn something at least lol

Peak Wladimir would be a SERIOUS problem for any heavyweight in history. ATG power at 6’6 and 245lbs combined with an elite jab. Even the little troll/haters that like to keyboard bash him know deep down Wladimir beats the **** out of their hero
