Yes, let Zuffa take some blows. Opetaia is still the lineal champion, so the belts don't matter.

The problem with boxing starts with the corruption in the governing bodies. They pick and choose their champions based on kickbacks, and from there, destroy any chances of fair fights, or fair decision making about which champions can retain their belt.

    Dana White isn’t the answer.

...and what do you think happens when it's Dana and Turki calling the shots and fighters have nowhere else to go?

Australia has one world boxing champion. Let's take his belt off him over a squabble between American sanctioning & promotional interests.

I like that Zuffa is giving boxing a shakeup, I like the idea that they will bring fresh eyeballs to the sport, and I appreciate that their recruitment seems to focus on ability rather than marketability.

However I dislike Dana's arrogance and rudeness. He will be brought to earth fairly quickly alongside a lot of other Trump arse lickers when the orange emperor is deposed; and if that happens before the belts receive official status, the Zuffa Belt will continue performing the role they currently do, an element of a boxing promoter's internal ranking system.

These belts currently have no credibility outside of Zuffa, and the IBF is stupid for acting like they are more than this. Returning petty BS with petty BS is not a top strategy.

I am concerned that Zuffa is manipulating Jai via his ambitions, and will leave him in a similar situation of fighting virtual unknowns like Matchroom did. It has started out that way. Let's see if they can get Mikaelian?

I disagree with this on principle. A governing body should only want the best in the world to carry their belt - once they go beyond sporting considerations, what is the point of them? What is their actual role?

good point actually. what is the official reason he is being stripped? I assumed it was because the opponent may not be in the IBF top 15, or these zuffa fights may be effectively “unlicensed” or not with the athletic commission?
or is he scheduled to fight a mandatory?

IBF are fairly strict with their rules and generally strip you if you don’t follow their rules.

If this is true, then the IBF are just getting in the first shot.

This plays into ZUFFA wishes in the first place. Seperating world class fighters from the orgs.

    Well, whatever reasons
Well, if that is their official reason, I am more sympathetic but it still shows how awkward, arbitrary and just generally in-the-way these bodies are. I am certain Glanton is ranked with the other bodies. Listen, I am not wild about him, but he has a good knock out ratio and gave a former champion a decent enough fight last time round considering that was more or less his first time at world level. Short of Opetaia ducking a mandatory that was called, he should not be getting stripped.

While the fascist rallys at UFC events will end when Trumps gone pretty much none of the bad things Whites done were the result of politics. Whites not going to start "behaving" because theres a change in Washington. That is not going to happen.

Whites main backer for Zuffa boxing is not Trump its Turki who has already bought the organization whose job it is to be the "neutral" arbitrator of which champ is "real". Now if Turki just has Ring acknowledge all of Zuffas champions the day they are crowned that coups going to fail and people will treat the Ring like the boxing version of the Wapo. But they have a lot of runway to massage that situation.
