Naoya Inoue vs. Junto Nakatani

Junto's wins over Ryosuke Nishida, Chihuas Rodriguez, Alexandro Santiago, Masamichi Yabuki, and Sebastian Hernandez are all quality, on top of the handful of other top 10 contenders who he's beaten. Wilder is more dangerous in the sense that he's a way bigger dude with a way bigger punch, but in terms of overall talent and ability to set up big shots, Junto is kinda miles better. And let's not act like Wilder has a sterling resume, either.

 

Inoue by stoppage in my opinion. Nakatani struggled against Hernandez in his last fight, his first at super bantamweight, and I don't even know if he would have won. Inoue can press Nakatani even more incisively, and he's more accurate than the Mexican. It's definitely an interesting fight but I'm going with Inoue.

 

Does anyone know how people who aren't in Japan could go about getting tickets for this one?

Where do you like to go for record shops in Tokyo? I recommend Shimokitazawa, if you have not been! Such a bohemian area. So many music venues.

 

I haven't been to Shimokitazawa, mainly Shibuya and Shinjuku, and stumbled across a couple of shops in Kanda. I know Seoul much better, as I haven't been to Japan in ages but hopefully will pass thru there again mid this year.

 

Love Shinjuku for a pissup. You should try Omoideyokochou by the station, if you like atmospheric haunts.

I remember it being a mild ballache getting to Shimokitazawa, to be fair.

Honestly, I could just walk around Tokyo in any direction and love it.

Not been to Seoul yet. You recommend it? The missus absolutely refuses to go to China on holiday, so maybe I should try Korea.

 

I lived in Korea for well over a decade all up and know Seoul well. It's similar to Toyko in that you can just walk in any direction and discover stuff, or get off at a random sub-way station and find some new district with it's own distinctive characteristics. I mainly know the central inner north east.

 

Man I want Nakatani to win but just going off their last performances I don’t see how he can do it. Inoue TKO or points imo

When did you last go to Shimokitazawa?
Sadly it's not the same place as 10-15 years ago. It's completely gentrified now. Fancy Starbucks, chain restaurants, etc. etc.
I mean, it's still nice, but it lost a lot of its character

 

About three years ago.

I found it a lot more interesting than Shibuya, which felt generic. May as well walk down Oxford Street.

 

Yeah, Shibuya has been cleaned up a lot too in the past 5 years. Massive investment and development of train stations and surrounding area.

 

So do we think a win here will solidify him as P4P#1 in the Rings eyes? Bit surprised his 2025 didn't have him there already.
