IBF strips Jai Opetaia of the cruiserweight world championship ahead Zuffa world title bout

The current sanctioning bodies have their issues, they really really do, but this zuffa thing is not the answer, it’s a sort of short term gain but long term pain kind of thing imo

 

issues? the wba alone is one of the most corrupt pos i seen .. then you got the wbc whos most prestigous but also getting bad.. wbo is the only one i tolerate and ibf i used to but they been annoying lately

 

Why should the IBF work with an company that they know wants to kill them off?

Jai is a fool for thinking this wouldn't happen

Unless Opetaia is absolutely certain to fight the winner of Zurdo/Benavidez - he is just wasting his time at CW right now.

Disappointing if he doesn't fight Opetaia if he beats Zurdo.

Opetaia is clearly the most avoided fighter in boxing.

 

Those who ignore history are doomed to suffer are doomed to repeat it. The IBF were nothing until the best fighter at Heavyweight fought for and won it's title ( Larry Holmes ) . The IBF strip Jai, he wins Zuffa, bang, Zuffa is instantly legitimate.

Why should Opetaia show them any loyalty at all after what they did to him when Briedis was injured?

The IBF literally tried to stop Opetaia from earning an income once before. F*** them.

 

Who cares about the belts. The IBF or any of the other ABCs dont exactly have great track records themselves. Opetaia is clearly the man at CW at the moment. Anyone pretending otherwise is delusional. Zurdo and Benavidez have been cherrypicking conmen for their entire careers.

No doubt about that. The rest of the division saw how good he is and want no part of him. A real pity because they have effectively removed his opportunity to unify by doing it.

He signed with Zuffa out of sheer frustration and who could blame him.

 

I know a lot of fans are worried that Zuffa will exploit the vast majority of fighters. Who's worse the alphabet orgs orZuffa/Dana White,I'mnot getting into. Boxing is the entertainmeht business, if Zuffa brings the fights and the revenue, it's belt will soon become the most coveted. The days of attaching great significance to the IBF/WBC/WBA/WBO should be gone. Those orgs have ****ed over the fans and the fighters for too long!

 

Since Zuffa arrived, we have had regular, well matched, non-PPV cards to watch and there are no half hour to an hour gaps between fights. As a fan, how can I be disappointed?
