Jamesx Toney versus Bernard Hopkins at Middle Weight wth poll

My choice is Toney. Not as consistent or disciplined as Bernard but I believe he's better in every department.

 

I think Hopkins feet and gameplan win him the fight. It would have to be ugly for Bernard to neutralize toney though. Skillwise I think toney is superior, but Hopkins is more disciplined and doesnt mind ruining the fight for fans.

 

This. Hopkins had a better sense of strategy whereas Toney was cuter on a tactical level. I think Hopkins finds a way to potshot, maul and neutralize Toney.

 

Toney wins. Hopkins lost twice to Jermain Taylor.

 

I think we probably would have seen a match full of feints, taunts and clinches, as well as penalty points between these two great champions. I have a doubt that could prove decisive: Which Toney would we have seen in the ring? The one who

Toney is way more skilled, Hopkins way more disciplined and conditioned while being reasonably skilled. Close SD either way, with the possibility of draw.

 

Toney left the MW division undefeated. Hopkins is not RJJ who beat Toney. If RJJ did not beat Toney Toney would be favored.

 

Hopkins in a snoozefest 116-112, Toney would have his moments, but would get outhustled down the stretch. Hopkins is proven and far more consistent, we're talking about one of the S-tier greats of 160 against a guy who could look magnificent, but also had a tendency to zone out. I also think Hopkins' style is horrible for Toney.

 

S League compared to Toney? Toney shits on him in skills, only thing Hopkins has on Toney is stamina, which would be very signifciant. But S League, put that statement in the trash

 

He's top 5 ever at 160, so that is S-tier. For me, Hopkins only has Hagler, Monzon, and Robinson ahead of him at 160, and maybe Greb. Roy would be based on pure ability, too, but he wasn't at 160 for long enough. Hopkins had 20 consecutive defenses, beat every top-10 contender of that era, and was the first 4-belt unified champion. How is that not S-tier?

 

Tony left middleweight undefeated because he got one of the worst decisions in history over Tiberi. Tiberi beat him comfortably. What a rip off. Can't see Hopkins having much trouble with Tiberi LOL

If Jones didn't beat Toney? Not only did he beat Toney, he made an absolute fool out of him. Did Toney even win a round? If my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle. Jones win over Toney was the most one sided result I have ever seen between two fighters so highly ranked at the time. It was supposed to be competive.

Tony is a brilliant fighter against people that want to stand in the pocket and play his game, or come after him. He's in his element. He sure comes back to the pack vs others tho.

 

You are critizising Toney's record at 160. Toney actually has better wins than Hopkins at 160. Hopkins record at 160 appears a bit over padded, not to menton his 2 losses to Taylor. If Taylor can beat Hopkins, then Toney beats him for sure.

As for your second comment, Nunn Mc Callum and Regiie Johnson, they all moved a lot , yet Toney still beat then.

I still remember when Hopkins backed out of a Toney fight at 190. Would have been an interesting fight back then.
