    Are you back again?

You bang on and on and on and on and on about Jermaine Taylor yet Hopkins had 20 odd defenses under his belt at that point. The man was tight at the weight, as acknowledged by Steward, as seen by his resurgence after moving up in weight. Toney should have been dethroned by Dave Freaking Tiberi. If Tiberi can soundly outpoint Toney Hopkins sure can!!!! Jebus LOL

Hopkins ruled the division for a decade with an iron fist. He unified, he was lineal. He didn't have to rely on gift decisions to strut his stuff.

Here's the list of unofficial scorecards for the first Taylor fight, one you harp on about. Shouldn't have even needed a rematch.

    • Jerry Magee, San Diego Union-Tribune: 114-114 Draw
    • Dan Rafael, ESPN: 114-114 Draw
    • TheSweetScience.com: 117-111 Taylor
    • Harold Lederman, HBO: 115-113 Taylor
    • Kevin Iole, Las Vegas Review-Journal: 115-113 Hopkins
    • Max Kellerman, HBO: 115-113 Hopkins
    • Michael Katz, Reuters: 115-113 Hopkins
    • Paul Upham, SecondsOut.com: 115-113 Hopkins
    • Associated Press: 114-113 Hopkins
    • Ramiro Gonzalez, La Opinion: 116-112 Hopkins
    • Doug Fischer, MaxBoxing.com: 116-112 Hopkins
    • David Mayo, Grand Rapids Press: 116-112 Hopkins
    • Keith Idec, New Jersey Herald-News: 116-112 Hopkins

I do not dispute too much what you wrote there. My point rather is that Toney has the better wins at 160. And you are making excuses for the Hopkins lfights against Taylor, yet ignore that Toney also has excuses (even better one) for the Tiberi fight. It seems a bit unfair..

Hopkins had defended 20 times over an undefeated decade and the vast majority at ringside scored Taylor 1 clearly for him. These are facts. It's also factual to say he showed a lot better form when moving up. It's still better than being dominated by Tiberi.

Tony had a lot of excuses. He was 300 pounds before boiling down to 160 in 3 days etc etc. Hopkins didn't need excuses for a decade. Toney couldn't separate himself from Griffin, etc.

Hopkins is a bit too canny and adaptable here. His gameplans are always on point. He'd have Toney worked out enough to decision him.

Toney's one of those guys who, when we do fantasy fights where guys are at their (supposed) best it's still hard to trust he'd would be. RJJ was the biggest fight of his life.

I'm not disagreeing with this I'm saying what people would think if they never fought. Like Ali beat Liston twice easily but if Ali didn't fight Liston no one would pick him.

I think Hopkins was capable of outperforming McCallum.
