Wilder and Jefferson were very similar boxers. They had similar body types, both were very tall (6'6) with long arms. Both of these fighters were late starters to boxing and relied on raw athleticism and punching power instead of skill. Both were aggressive and willing to trade punches. They were very good at killing bums, and had a lot of first round KOs against them. Wilder's punching power is well known, but Jefferson also had devastating power, see his left hook KO against Maurice Harris which was the Knockout of the Year in 1999. Jefferson probably had better punching technique than the windmilling Wilder, he had a killer left hook and could fight on the inside, while Wilder only had a right hand however that was more accurate and efficient. Jefferson also had a better footwork than the bambi on ice Wilder.

Wilder has an advantage in stamina, he was dangerous even in the later rounds, while Jefferson often fought like a madman and gassed out in the later rounds which led to his loss to David Izon even though he was leading on the cards. Wilder was more protected than the president at one point in his career thanks to his management that fed him Uber drivers for long years, while Jefferson had no such privilege, he had to face future champion Maskaev and young Wlad quite early in his career and got KO'd by them. This fight would surely end in a knockout, probably an early round KO. Who would win this hypothetical match-up?

I think I’ll go with the former world champion over the journeyman

Jefferson wasn't a bad fighter to be fair... he won the golden gloves beating the likes of Michael Grant & as a pro sparked out Bert Cooper & big Mo Harris, outpointed Obed Sullivan (who was good enough to push Rahman close) & even in a loss to David Izon was boxing well but punched himself out...Wilder would be favourite here tho. The Harris KO is wild..

Jefferson would have a puncher's chance here for sure.

If Nichols, Sconiers and Featherfist Fury could put Glass Jawed Wilder on the canvas, Jefferson would keep him there

Wilder obviously: he never lost to a journeyman. Which is, if we're being honest, more than we can say for Wlad Klitschko.

Jefferson looked flabby and slow when he fought Wlad.

    Wilder by ko.

Jefferson probably loses to Wilder victims like Helenius, Arreola etc.

Jefferson KO's the fat soft Helenius who appeared to just be there to lie down for his friend and collect a payday. Prime Helenius who KO'd Peter and Liakhovich and still had a chin beats him. The in shape Helenius who had a bit of renaissance against Kownacki and gave AJ a decent fight would probably be favored as well. Arreola was not in good form against Wilder and took the fight on short notice. Jefferson probably KO's that version too. Prime Arreola likely KO's him.

Wilder a big favorite. But Jefferson would have a solid punchers chance. a don't blink kind of fight.

No, he didn't. The skills differemce was huge - that was a reason why he got dismantled that quickly

This is silly.................Wilder would stop Jefferson the very moment he decided to throw haymakers.

LMFAO at ''Jefferson'' winning in the poll.

Prime Wilder cleans him out like a plate of Alabama BBQ.

Wilder couldn't remain standing against tomato cans Dustin Nichols and Harold Sconiers. Light-puncher Tyson Fury annihilated him.

A hard punching HW like Derrick Jefferson would shatter Wilder's fragile mandible.
