How good was he? What are some of his greatest fights? I know he's a former world champion. Would like to know how he was remembered as a fighter.

I agree with @Wladimir that the Barrios fight was his best. A very exciting fight. His bouts with Juan Diaz and Corrales were also decent but it should be noted that those were his only two losses and in both fights he quit. So there was always a question of his heart. Also noting a complete lack of fundamentals. But a good banger.

From memory, at the time he was a dangerous, exciting banger. But did have a tendency to quit when discouraged.

A Really dynamic, explosive, athletic, entertainkng fighter. The way he fought was difficult to maintain for 12 rounds though, and as mentioned, he had a tendency to give up when facing adversity. If you want to ser a great example of his talents and shortcomings, watch the diego corrales fight. It sums him up pretty well.
