Dubois by early brutal KO. Being a very slow starter and having glass jaw is a bad combination if you are facing such a quick starter and hard hitter as Daniel Dubois

Michael Grant was a hype job of the highest order.

 

He did beat Golota

 

Everybody beat Golota.

 

Not Bowe (well he did but on a technicality)

 

He beat him mentally

 

I still remember Michael Katz writing a column stating that Grant was the future of the heavyweight division, a watershed athlete who would be the blueprint for all future champs... "A colossus bestrides the division!" I remember that hacky quote.

You can't hate boxing writers enough (except a select few).

 

Not saying much considering Golota was a complete nutcase.

 

Michael Grant like Anthony Joshua had the perfect looking build - and was a great athlete in fairness. But in boxing, skills pay the bills.

In the first round against Lennox Lewis, you can see Michael Grant just throwing the most random punches as if it was the first time he'd been in the ring.

 

Athletes play stick-and-ball games. Fighters fight. There is and always will be a difference.

 

And that way a lot of hype jobs are born.
