Fighters who are Over-Hated?

I know this is the classic section, but I would say Shakur Stevenson And Devin Haney qualify as boxers who are overhated.

 

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Lots of folks refuse to give him credit but make no mistake, he was an atg for sure.

 

Vinny Paz, seems like a lot of people here can't stand him.

 

Both are terrible and are UNDER hated.

 

Yeah, he sucked.

 

John Ruiz was a masterful combatant.

 

Guilty

 

Everything they say about him cherry picking and waiting guys out is true, and it was still one of the most elite careers ever.

 

I find quite a few fighters attract extremes.

Mike Tyson - Tyson has a lot of haters but on the flip he has a lot of nut huggers.
Lennox Lewis - Attracts a lot of hate. He was arrogant and barely of any fixed abode, country wise. This cost him for quite a few people. Lots of people have huge respect for him, tho true nuthuggers are rare to non existent.
Rocky Marciano - Is hate too strong? Maybe it's more a disdain thing than hate and a refusal to give him much credit.
SRL - Gets a lot of hate and disdain, but also gets a lot of respect from other sides.
Tag Team Klit - They cop a lot. They've also got a ton of big big fans.
Sonny Liston - It cuts both ways for him too.
George Foreman - Some can't stop thinking and posting about him such is the obsession. He's also got a lot of huge fans, including me.
Muhammad Ali - Both extremes.
Bernard Hopkins - Gets plenty of hate but is highly rated by many as well, including me.

Basically just about every high profile heavyweight cops hate from some area's.

 

One beat Loma, the other was ducked by him. That's all it takes in General.

 

I don't know if it is because I've put some posters on Ignore, but to me hate for a certain fighter doesn't seem to be nearly what it once was. There were posters back in the day who almost exclusiveley posted about their dislike for Ali and Leonard for example. Don't see anything like that nowadays here in Classic.

 

It is impossible to hate Vinny Pazienza too much.

 

Hamed, and I don't think anyone else comes close. Only then came Money, B-Hope, Mike Tyson, and Fury.

They all deserved it somehow. But personal dislikes sometimes negatively impact a sport's reputation.

 

It depends on how many you have on ignore. Because if it's not that many then it's likely that the discourse has shifted.
