Filip Hrgović vs Moses Itauma set for August 29 in London

Hrgovic will test that chin for sure. Main thing that concerns me for this fight is that scar tissue of Filips around his eye area. But he will definitely be the first to really pop that chin of itauma’s. Also Filip can take his ass to deep water too Because moses looked like he was huffing pretty good by the 4th round of this past fight.

 

In the full interview this was taken from Hrgovic said he has it in his contract that if he beats Allen he must get a fight with either Itauma, Wardley, Dubois or Okolie. So it’s not just Moses. And tbh Queensberry don’t even seem that keen on putting Moses in with Gassiev so I don’t know if they’d be super eager to put him in there with Hrgovic.

 

It's a horrible matchup. Hrgovic is super slow and Moses is super fast. Not only do I think Hrgovic would lose it might actually make him quit the sport. He get's discouraged easily. Hrgovic is super talented but I would stay with people with less hand speed. He doesn't have the defense or head movement or feet for that matter to combat such a quick force of Ituma. He would be bleeding all over the ring & suffer severe cuts and eye damage. It wouldn't be fun to watch. Would Itauma get tested yeah. But they need to go another direction. Hrgovic already almost quit boxing. He would really be down after this match. Itauma by TKO at some point due to bleeding & cuts & brain damage. It's a very unfair matchup.

 

It's an intriguing one...

Hrgovics power is middling rather than great - Itauma getting wobbled badly or stopped would suggest he's probably not got the chin to be an unstoppable dominant champion.

And likewise Hrgovics stamina is limited - if Itauma is gassing worse than Filip, then he's going to have difficulty with cards (less a problem as he seems to have serious power, but still a clear limitation).

It'd tell us an awful lot about Itauma, for sure - even taking it would suggest his handlers believe he's legit already, Hrgovic is decent around, but has his limitations that only the contenders are going to be able to overcome, but equally basically all the contenders should be capable of overcoming (which makes him the perfect gatekeeper).

 

Hrgovic wins easily, not beacause he is better, but beacause Itauma is pampered and will crack under preassure

Fillip's chin is in league or maybe a tad better than Joyce's. Those shots he took from Adelaye would put down a horse. He has suspect stamina, falls asleep, and whilst his shot selection improves under Abel Sanchez (the left overhand etc.) it's usually limited to a laser right hand.

That being said, I'm still rooting for him, and with determined mindset he absolutely has the skills to put a dent in Itauma. Move, feint, don't allow him to set, lead with dynamic rights and smother. If he could make Zhang guess and overthink in his first big fight right after his father died, he can step up here after he's been in trenches so many times.

There is a nightmare scenario in which Itauma's gas tank and grit runs deeper than anticipated and he just brutally stops Hrgovic at some point. That would be a Cooney/Foreman/Tyson level of rising puncher hype train.

 

Hrgovic needs to be in the shape of his life and even then its gonna be very difficult, still a good test for itauma, i think he beats him into a bloody pulp in less then 8 rounds.

 

The problem with Hrgovic is that he puts himself in a problematic situation during the fight, which is still strange to me, in the first rounds he is great and then suddenly falls, Itauma is simply younger and fresher.

 

Jesus, people are getting ahead of themselves on Itauma. He beat two gatekeepers. That is all.

We have no idea what will happen if he fights Hrgovic, a mid-level contender.

 

Hrgovic vs. Itauma would be the second biggest heavyweight fight in history for a Croatian heavyweight right after Lewis vs. Mavrovic.

 

Hurgo and Bakole are the highest risk reward fights on boxing for someone like Ituama, but if he wants to be as good as he is hyped then this is the move to make. Wardley is a good option also there seems to be a little bit of a leap that has to be made no matter what. He has no time in the current market to mess around. Hurgo will pick him long and try to take him into the deeper rounds.
